American Horror Story Season 10 is coming — sort of.

Every fall, viewers look forward to the AHS premiere. But it looks like new episodes won’t return for some time. Even so, co-creator Ryan Murphy has been dropping clues about the upcoming theme. Then in his most-recent Instagram update, Murphy unveiled another American Horror Story Season 10 teaser.

Why ‘American Horror Story’ Season 10 will be delayed

In April 2020, Leslie Grossman revealed American Horror Story Season 10 was about to start filming when production was shut down due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“We were two weeks from starting shooting, and everything got pulled,” Grossman said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.  “So we are in a waiting game, just like everybody else is in a waiting game. All production is shut down … It remains to be seen how they’re going to figure out how to get everything back up and running.”

The actor also revealed most of the scripts for season 10 were written by the shutdown.

“They were good to go and ready and had most of their scripts written,” I’m just hoping it’s going to be sooner rather than later because it’s going to be a really excellent, excellent season.”

Ryan Murphy updates fans on ‘American Horror Story’ Season 10

In May, FX confirmed American Horror Story Season 10 won’t be released until 2021, per The Hollywood Reporter. Then on Aug. 28, Murphy provided fans with a much-needed update on the new season. Now, AHS is expected to resume filming this October.

“Looks like American Horror Story Season 10 is go for an October (fitting) production launch,” the co-creator wrote on Instagram. “Thanks to everyone who is working hard to assure a safe start for the cast and crew.”

Murphy also attached a photo of razor-sharp teeth and hinted the image was, indeed, a teaser. “Yes this is a clue,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, AHS fans got to work on theories. Some saw a connection between the teeth to vampires or werewolves. But given Murphy’s previous water-related hints, many viewers think sirens will be involved.

“OMG ITS MERMAIDS????? I mean the beach the teeth OMGGG,” a fan wrote in response to Murphy’s Instagram post.

The American Horror Story fandom may be connecting the dots between all of Murphy’s cryptic clues. But in May, the co-creator revealed the season 10 theme could have changed due to the pandemic. According to The Wrap, Murphy hoped to film the season while it was still warm.

“A lot of what I was going to shoot was dependent on a very specific moment. It was a weather-dependent show,” he said at the time. “So now I don’t know. I don’t know what we’re going to do.”

He continued, “I don’t know what I’m gonna do next with that show. I don’t know if I’ll accelerate another season or wait till next year to shoot this one.”

Whether or not the AHS Season 10 theme depends on the weather, it’s exciting to hear production will start soon. But in the meantime, fans can continue to sink their teeth into theories.
