American Idol Season 20 has narrowed down the competition to just 11 people, which means there have been some tough goodbyes. The newest episode on Sunday, April 24, showcased the Top 14 performances as viewers entered their first live voting session of the season to send three artists home by the end of the night. Plus, season 16 alum Gabby Barrett stopped by to mentor the remaining artists. Here’s who made it to the Top 11 in American Idol 2022, and which singers’ journeys came to an end.

‘American Idol’ 2022 favorites Nicolina, Leah Marlene, HunterGirl, and more entered the Top 11

American Idol‘s theme on Sunday night was breakout hits — the contestants performed the songs that gave famous artists their big breaks. It’s no longer time for judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie to choose favorites, but they certainly had a few. HunterGirl, for example, one of the season’s platinum ticket winners, blew the judges away with her performance of Sugarland’s “Baby Girl.” Luke called it one of HunterGirl’s best covers so far. Meanwhile, Katy said the young country singer could take home the win this season.

Leah Marlene also caught the judges’ attention with “Happy Together” by The Turtles. She felt torn between that song and Tears For Fears’ “Mad World,” but ultimately chose the former with some advice from Gabby. And it turned out to be the right choice — Leah brought out rare tears from Luke! He called it a “masterful moment from top to bottom.”

Nicolina Bozzo has been one to watch all season thus far. She continued to impress with her Top 14 performance of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” The judges were in awe of Nicolina’s voice, with Katy even comparing her to an angel. Meanwhile, Lionel complimented Nicolina’s “natural gift,” and Luke called it “God-given talent.”

Voting closed just a few minutes before the show ended. Then, host Ryan Seacrest revealed which artists America chose to save for the next round. Here are the singers who make up American Idol 2022’s Top 11:

  • Lady K
  • Fritz Hager
  • Emyrson Flora
  • Noah Thompson
  • Nicolina Bozzo
  • Jay Copeland
  • Leah Marlene
  • Mike Parker
  • Christian Guardino
  • HunterGirl
  • Tristan Gressett

Who went home on ‘American Idol’ last night?

Unfortunately, the three contestants with the fewest votes were eliminated during American Idol‘s Top 14 show: Ava Maybee, Allegra Miles, and Dan Marshall. Ava channeled Harry Styles with a performance of “Sign of the Times” because she’s a “massive fan” of the singer. The judges didn’t love the first half of Ava’s tune, but Luke complimented the way she “dug in” at the end. Katy also said her friends have been talking about Ava’s talent.

Allegra Miles performed Billie Eilish’s breakout hit “Ocean Eyes.” As fans may recall, Allegra previously dropped into the Bottom 10 before the judges saved her for the Top 14. Luke said Allegra’s performance confirmed their decision to save her and called it a “great performance.” The judges loved the way she stood up from the piano mid-tune to deliver more passion. Allegra also went barefoot for the performance — and so did Ryan Seacrest.

Finally, Dan Marshall sang Kenny Chesney’s “She’s Got It All.” Lionel said Dan “owned that song” and Katy said it felt like a fun choice for the singer. However, she did add that Dan could use a bit more “aim.” Luke took note of Dan’s nerves at the beginning of the tune.

Tonight, April 25, fans can expect to see the Top 11 perform once again for America’s votes. This time, however, there’s a twist: each judge will submit a song choice for each artist. Then, the singers will select their favorite tune without knowing which judge submitted it. It should certainly make for some interesting performances!
