Fans cannot stop talking about Ryan Seacrest’s wonky eyes and slurred speech on the American Idol Finale on May 17, 2020. However, it turns out that this was not the first time 45-year-old Seacrest had a mishap on live television.

What happened to Ryan Seacrest during the ‘American Idol’ Finale?

Seacrest seemed fine when he introduced the season’s Top 11 performers doing a medley. However, after the selection, the host’s right eye looked slightly closed, and fans noted his speech seemed slurred.

The Live With Kelly and Ryan host kept the show moving, but fans took to social media to express their concern over Seacrest’s mishap.

“Hope @RyanSeacrest is ok,” one Twitter user wrote. “He looked like he was having a stroke. His face drooped, eye drooping, and losing his words.”

The concern grew when Seacrest decided not to host Live With Kelly and Ryan the next morning. Mark Consuelos filled in for Seacrest, while fans begged for an update on the host’s health.

Ryan Seacrest’s rep explained he did not have a stroke

“Like many people right now, Ryan is adjusting to the new normal and finding work-home balance, with the added stress of having to put on live shows from home,” the rep told People.

Fans are happy that Seacrest’s health is fine. However, they continue to send him thoughts and prayers.

“Thoughts and love out to Ryan,” another fan commented on Twitter. “He was not himself right from the beginning of Idol last eve. I saw him fade and it was scary. He’s one of the most fun and thoughtful celebrities.”

The rep explained that Seacrest needs some rest after working on so many hosting jobs from home.

“Between Live with Kelly and RyanAmerican IdolOn-Air with Ryan Seacrest, and the Disney Family Singalong specials, he has been juggling three-four on-air jobs over the last few weeks, and he’s in need of rest,” the rep continued. “So today, he took a well-deserved day off.”

Seacrest had another mishap on ‘Live With Kelly and Ryan’

On July 31, 2019, during an episode of “Stump the Hosts: Travel Trivia,” Seacrest had an on-air mishap when a fly landed on set in front of him. He looked down, trying to catch the fly and did display one squinty-eye. The fly landed on the avocado in front of him, and he grabbed it with his bare hands.

“I have him,” Seacrest yelled during the clip posted by MSN. “I have him. He’s in my hand. Sorry.”

The host casually put the fly inside a newspaper someone was holding off-set. Then he continued with the show. Nothing stops Seacrest, not even a fly, from continuing with his hosting duties.
