America’s Got Talent has been on the air for fourteen seasons; thus, the show has seen its fair share of hosts and judges. Some fans argue that Nick Cannon will always be the show’s greatest host; other deem Terry Crews the best thing to happen to America’s Got Talent in years.  From shifting hosts to adding new judges like acclaimed dancer Julianne Hough and keeping old ones like Howie Mandel, the show manages to stand the test of time.

While opinions on hosts and coaches will always vary — as we are all drawn to different personalities  — some coaches have developed tendencies that most AGT viewers consider unacceptable and aggravating (to say the least). Many fans can’t stand Simon Cowell’s whole “stop the show” gig, while others feel Mel B has become the show’s new “captain obvious.”

Putting Simon Cowell’s shtick and Mel B’s tired catchphrase, “what just happened” aside, many fans argue that one coach, in particular, has grown biased in judgment. As a result, AGT enthusiasts argue that the judge no longer serves the show adequately for his opinions do not feel representative of the viewing population.

‘America’s Got Talent’ fans explain Howie Mandel’s biases

Howie Mandel brings a great deal of humor to America’s Got Talent and has improved in the critical feedback realm over the years. Though growing beyond the funny seat-filler he was in the show’s earlier days, he has also developed some severe biases along the way. According to fans, Howie Mandel favors comedians and seems to possess a bias against original performers and the larger group acts. One America’s Got Talent fan stated:

I think Howie needs to change. Not leave, just change. I’m tired of the weird hate against original songs and his love for comedians that kind of suck…

Another AGT viewer, one who enjoys Howie Mandel’s presence on the show, admitted to witnessing the judge’s biases mentioned above and added:

I don’t know, I’ve started to like Howie this season. He seems to be alone in voicing his (pretty reasoned) dislike of child singers and big groups. Sure he doesn’t like originals, but he’s not afraid to go against the grain.

Whether Howie Mandel is reasoned in his decisions is up for debate, but many fans argue that he simply endorses comedians above acts that are arguably more impressive, and more deserving of the stage. One fan noted:

Yeah, I don’t like Howie. He has opinions that don’t really make any sense. Like the dislike for original songs. He’s also biased towards comedians. No one else cares. He’s the only one standing up.

From his apparent contempt for original songs to his favoritism towards comedians, many America’s Got Talent fans consider Howie Mandel “no longer worthy” to serve as a judge on the talent competition series. However, it is important to note that Howie Mandel does bring a critical eye to the table; many just wish he was equally critical towards comedians. However, can you blame the guy for having a soft spot for members of his kin? After this many seasons, many argue, yes. Yes, you can.
