‘And Just Like That…’ Fan Theory: Lisette Is the Next Carrie Bradshaw
Season 3 of And Just Like That... is set to premiere sometime in 2025. While the show aims to continue the story of New York City columnist Carrie Bradshaw and her fabulous friends, several new characters were added to freshen up the show. While not all new characters were welcomed by fans with open arms, one new character could be interesting enough for their own spinoff. A fan theory suggests the season 2 finale perfectly set up a Lisette Alee spinoff.
Season 2 of ‘And Just Like That…’ created spinoff potential for Lisette
When season 2 of And Just Like That… closed, a lot had changed for Carrie Bradshaw. The season 2 finale finally brought the saga of Carrie’s beloved studio apartment to a close. With the successful author moving into a much larger space, she opted to pass the torch to her downstairs neighbor, Lisette. Lisette and Carrie became unlikely friends after the 20-something jewelry designer found herself suddenly immersed in the world of New York City’s infamously difficult dating scene. Carrie offered support, and they eventually became friends.
Since Carrie’s apartment served as something of a main character, fans feel confident that there is a bigger plan for Brownstone’s new owner. While it’s possible Lisette and the apartment will just be featured in season 3 of And Just Like That… more could be cumming. A Reddit user suggested the writers sold Carrie’s apartment to Lisette to create an easy spinoff. Lisette is young, quirky, and hapless in love, just like Carrie was when she first moved to New York. She could be the new generation’s Carrie Bradshaw for all intents and purposes.
Will Lisette Alee be featured in the upcoming season of the series?
If there are plans to craft a spinoff around Lisaette, it doesn’t seem like it is happening right now. Still, And Just Like That… fans will get to see her again. Katerina Tannenbaum, the actor who portrays Lisette, was spotted on set in May 2024, around the time filming for season 3 of the controversial reboot began. She hasn’t been seen often with Sarah Jessica Parker or her other co-stars, but she does seem to factor in. It is unclear just how much she’ll be featured.
Whether there are bigger plans for the character eventually, Lisette’s involvement in the upcoming storyline feels necessary. Ahead of season 3, the series shaved off two characters, leaving a lot of space to fill.
Karen Pittmann, the actor who portrayed Professor Nya Wallace, will not be returning for season 3. Pittmann had a scheduling conflict that made it impossible for her to work on And Just Like That… Sara Ramirez won’t be back to reprise the role of Che Diaz, either. Writers opted to cut the character. Fans largely assume Ramirez was fired after fans lambasted their character. Cynthia Nixon, the actor who portrays Miranda Hobbes, insists it was a mutual decision. The space left by both characters could lead to more screen time for Lisette.
