Comedian Bob Saget, who died on Jan. 9, never appeared on camera for How I Met Your Mother. But he narrated the series, playing the older version of star Ted Mosby, explaining to his two children how he got to know their mother. The children were shown on camera from Mosby’s perspective as he talked to them.
The Full House star once spoke with Culturated about his role on the hit TV show. “How I Met Your Mother was a lovely, lovely gig that I got to do a couple of hours a week to narrate it,” Saget explained. “But I have to keep reminding people that it was just a gig. You take me to any non-English speaking country, and I have nothing to do with the show.”
Kim Cattrall takes over Saget’s narrator role in How I Met Your Father, but she also appears on camera. The spinoff switches the roles by showing Cattrall from the perspective of her children, who are off-screen. Cattrall plays the older version of Hilary Duff’s Sophie, the star of the show.

Another reason Cattrall won’t join the cast of And Just Like That… is her feud with former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker. The two actors have shared vastly different accounts of the events that led to the demise of their friendship.
Her negative experience working on Sex in the City led Cattrall to announce she would no longer be involved with the series after filming the 2010 movie Sex in the City 2.
