‘And Just Like That…’ Season 2? Everything We Know About the Possibility of More Episodes
Say what you want about And Just Like That… but no one can deny its success. The show released on HBO Max in December of 2021 to instant popularity, becoming the most-watched series debut in its history (via Deadline). It topped shows like Zendaya’s Euphoria and the hit teen comedy-drama The Sex Lives of College Girls, and its predecessor even saw an uptick in views as Sex and the City fans went back to watch it.
Focusing on Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), the show finds them living life as 50-somethings, when unexpected events force them off course. While it was designed as a limited series, it’s such a hit that fans are expecting another season. Here, find everything we know about that so far.
Has ‘And Just Like That…’ been renewed?
As of writing, HBO has not renewed And Just Like That…. Although it is wildly popular, the show has famously been criticized by fans and critics alike for its storylines, ranging from Miranda and Steve Brady’s breakup to Carrie’s failure to call 911 in the premiere. Still, Page Six reports that “the likelihood of a second season is high.”
“The creative conversations haven’t happened yet, but everyone is feeling good about the show,” a source told the website.
“They may feel that they want to prove a point that they can make a second season stronger and that it was valid to bring it back for fans,” said another source.
The decision will reportedly boil down to what the cast wants to do
HBO executive Casey Bloys spoke about the possibility of another season in an interview with Vulture. He said he had “no idea” if it would happen and indicated the decision would ultimately rest on the cast.
“I’m going to leave it up to these guys to figure out what they want to do, but I’m very happy with what they’ve done,” said Bloys. “I will tell you, it’s kind of what you want in a show like this. It really does feel like you’re picking up with old friends and haven’t missed a beat.”
Parker, as far as we know, has not commented on the topic of a second season. But her co-stars seem open to the idea. Nixon signaled interest in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, while Davis told Vanity Fair she hoped the show would come back to continue exploring Charlotte’s family.
Who else would return?
In addition to Parker, Nixon, and Davis, it’s possible that Nicole Ari Parker (Lisa Todd Wexley), Karen Pittman (Nya Wallace), Sarita Choudhury (Seema Patel), and Sara Ramirez (Che Diaz) would all reprise their roles. Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady), and Mario Cantone (Anthony Marentino) are also likely to come back, among others.
The Daily Mail previously reported that Kim Cattrall, who starred in the original show as fourth friend Samantha Jones, would be welcome to return if there were future seasons of And Just Like That…. But Cattrall has been vocal about wanting to move on to other things.
