Is ‘And Just Like That…’ Star Kristin Davis Married and How Many Children Does She Have?
Actor Kristin Davis played the role of Charlotte York for six seasons on Sex of the City. She later reprised the character for two movies as well as the SATC reboot And Just Like That. Charlotte had always dreamed of finding Mr. Right, having a family, and living happily ever after. In season 5 she unexpectedly falls for her divorce lawyer, Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), and the couple later become parents to two daughters, Lily and Rose.
While fans know all about her character, some have wondered about Davis. Has the star ever been married and does she have any kids? Well, Davis does share a similarity with her Charlotte. Read on to find out what that is.
Davis reveals why she’s still single
Over the years Davis has dated and been linked to some famous men including Alec Baldwin, Damian Lewis, Rick Fox, and Aaron Sorkin. However, the star has never been married.
“[In my twenties] I thought I’d never get married. I guess I was right!” Davis previously said (via People). “I grew up in the South so all everyone talked about was marriage but all I wanted was to move to New York and do theater. And in my thirties, I was busy doing the show so I just didn’t have time.”
Davis revealed that she is open to the possibility of marriage but she has to find the time and that person has to be someone she wants in her children’s lives as well.
“I certainly intellectually feel like I’d like to have another romantic relationship, but I don’t know how to make the day-to-day of it happen. I don’t have time!” she told Haute Living. “It has to be someone so awesome that I would bring him in and potentially share time with [kids].”
Davis adopted her children
Like her SATC character, Davis first became a mother through adoption.
The actor welcome her daughter, Gemma Rose, in 2011.
“The time was ticking, and I wasn’t really thinking about it, I was working … At 38, which is a little late, I felt deeply that I need to be a mother,” Davis explained on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk. “I felt like there was a child out there who I needed to find that was my child. I can’t explain it. It was a spiritual kind of a thing … [Adoption] is a long road. It’s not an easy road.”
In 2018, Davis adopted a son named Wilson. The TV star has opened up about parenting her two children who are Black.
“Because my children are African American, I feel like it’s my duty and my job to do as much research, as much work, build as many bridges as possible because you are their community,” she said during the discussion on Red Table Talk. “I work at that every day trying to figure out how I can make sure they have access to the Black community, that they’re part of it, that they’re not separated from it.”
Her daughter’s name is an accidental homage to a ‘Sex and the City’ character
Some fans thought Davis named Gemma Rose after her fictional daughter Rose but she insisted that’s not the case.
“I didn’t talk to anybody about the naming or the adopting at all and I didn’t realize the connection,” Davis stated in an interview with Anderson Cooper. “Then we announced it and everybody was like, ‘Oh, she named her after her Sex and the City baby.’ I didn’t even consciously [realize it], not at all, not at all.”
She added: “I almost named her Rose as a first name because I kept thinking it’s such a beautiful name. Isn’t it weird? I think it was lodged unconsciously.”
