The Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That…, first premiered in 2021. While the series is a success in terms of viewership, fans have some significant criticisms about the reboot. One of the biggest complaints has been how some of the show’s beloved characters appear to be a shadow of their former selves. Miranda Hobbes was the biggest victim of a swift and inexplicable personality change. There were several big issues fans took with Miranda, but there were also little things wrong with the formerly uptight lawyer during season 1. Miranda’s refusal to listen to podcasts was the first sign that something was seriously amiss.

Fans hated Miranda’s ‘And Just Like That…’ romance

In season 1 of And Just Like That… Miranda experienced a sexual awakening. That would have been fine if she hadn’t thrown away her longtime marriage without a second thought. Miranda Hobbes’ decision to divorce Steve Brady to link up with Che Diaz has been the biggest criticism of the beloved character. While the divorce, in general, upset many viewers, how she went about it was completely out of character.

Fans argue that the Miranda they knew and loved from the original series would never have made such a rash decision. She also would never have given up a prestigious career move to follow someone she had been dating for 10 minutes to California. After all, Miranda berated Charlotte York for moving her relationships forward too quickly. Her strange romantic decisions weren’t fans’ only problem with the character.

Miranda Hobbes’ refusal to listen to podcasts made no sense

It might seem a bit petty in the grand scheme of things, but we are still having a hard time getting over the idea that Miranda wouldn’t have embraced podcasts from the very start. In season 1 of the series, Miranda reveals that she doesn’t listen to Carrie’s podcast and that the medium isn’t for her. Looking back, that was the first sign that the Miranda we met in 2021 was nothing like the Miranda of the late 1990s and early aughts.

The Miranda fans met in Sex and the City embraced all forms of media and technology. She loved TiVo and often reprimanded Carrie for refusing to get a cell phone. She was also the most well-informed of her friends. If anyone would be a huge podcast fan, it would have been Miranda. It might be a small detail, but it’s one fans picked up on quickly.

Will the old Miranda return for season 3 of ‘And Just Like That..’?

While Miranda started to come into her own a bit by the end of season 2, she still was not back to her former self. Fans hope to see the old Miranda back when season 3 premieres in 2025. Things are already looking up. Miranda and Che ended their relationship in season 2, and the character will not return to the series.

With Miranda officially single, fans should see more first dates and, hopefully, dating mishaps from her. At least, that’s what Cynthia Nixon suggested would happen during a recent Variety interview. The addition of Rosie O’Donnell to the cast has some fans concerned that Miranda will find herself in another ill-fated romance, but Nixon seems to suggest the character will be dating around. We hope so.
