Andy Cohen Close to Tears About Ukraine Crisis – ‘We’re Praying for Everybody There’
Andy Cohen was close to tears when he talked about Russia’s assault on Ukraine. Cohen’s longtime friend and trainer Stanislav Kravchenko is from the Ukraine and Cohen became emotional during a recent workout session.
“Talking about Ukraine, Stanny,” Cohen said in an Instagram story video alongside Kravchenko.
“Yeah, I hope it’s not happening,” Kravchenko said about reports that Russia invaded Ukraine. “I hope, I truly, truly hope this is fake news.”
Andy Cohen becomes emotional
Cohen then becomes a little more emotional and nods as Kravchenko speaks. “But if it’s happening, it’s not only about my family,” Kravchenko continued. “It’s about millions and millions of families. And it’s really sad.”
Cohen continued to nod alongside Kravchenko, seemingly too choked up to speak. “We’re praying for everybody there,” he nodded again as his eyes filled with tears. Cohen added to his Instagram story, “I stand with Ukraine.”
Kravchenko posted a photo of the Ukrainian flag on Instagram. He captioned the photo, “All we want is PEACE.” He also shared a text exchange with a friend in Ukraine. The friend’s daughter is learning self-defense at school. “But we all hope everything is going to be fine,” the friend added.
Stan and Andy are bonded through their friendship
Kravchenko and Cohen forged a close friendship after Kravchenko became his personal trainer. He has been on Cohen’s Bravo talk show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and has vacationed with Cohen and Cohen’s son Ben.
Kravchenko told Showbiz Cheat Sheet how he and Cohen recovered from coronavirus (Covid-19) via Zoom together.
“So he got COVID, I got COVID, and I stayed home obviously,” Kravchenko recalled. “He did as well. And then we tried Zoom [workouts] after, but it took him a while. Like a month probably and we did a Zoom session. He did Zoom but when he was not with me, but he was like ‘What should I do, I’m bored.’ I’m like maybe do [online fitness platform] NEOU. He did NEOU, he loves it, it’s fun.”
“But we’re back in the gym now, love it,” he added. “One on one. But meanwhile, while he’s not with me, he’s doing some virtual workouts.”
Stan has become a health and fitness advisor to Andy
Kravchenko has essentially become Cohen’s health and fitness guru. He was behind getting Cohen to curb drinking alcohol, plus he designed a workout plan to keep Cohen in top shape.
“So basically what happened is, Andy, you know I love him, he’s a great guy,” Kravchenko told Showbiz Cheat Sheet in a 2020 interview. “So Andy got me in with [online fitness platform] NEOU.”
“Basically, my workouts are using weights, resistance bands, and body weight,” he said. “The class works out like with a superset, I get in a lot of reps, which means the heart rate goes up and there’s cardio. So you’re getting your cardio while you are lifting weights.”
“When we work out, it’s one on one at the gym,” he added. Cohen often shares videos from his one-on-one sessions, which is what when he and Kravchenko discussed their concerns about Ukraine.
CNN reports that Russian airborne troops have taken control of the Antonov Airport and families are taking cover in subway stations. “People start[ed] to pour in here. These people are frightened. They’re confused. They are desperately uncertain about what they’re supposed to do,” CNN’s chief international correspondent Clarissa Ward reported.
