Angelina Jolie’s Very First Wedding Involved Blood
Angelina Jolie‘s personal life has been splashed across the tabloids since she was in her early 20s. We all know the intricate details of her romance with Billy Bob Thorton, the affair with Brad Pitt, and her resulting contentious divorce from the actor. However, little has been said about her very first marriage.
Jolie married for the first time in 1995 at age 20, and that wedding involved blood.
Angelina Jolie married Jonny Lee Miller six months after meeting him
Jolie and Miller met on the set of 1995’s Hackers and were immediately smitten with one another. However, when the film wrapped, Miller, who is from the U.K., returned across the pond, and the pair did not speak for several months.
However, when they reconnected they decided to get married. She was 20 and Miller was 22. Jolie told The Sun via InStyle.
We both proposed to each other and both had questions to ask. I wondered if we should stay engaged for a while since he was going to be in Britain and I would stay in LA. But we went for a quick wedding. I went in black leather pants. I had pants with a zipper that goes back to front. He stuck a veil on me at the last second and put a garter on the pants.
The only people in attendance at the couple’s nuptials were Jolie’s mother and one of Miller’s close friends.
Jonny Lee Miller and Angelina Jolie are still good friends
Though the lovebirds’ marriage did not withstand the test of time, they split amicably. Over 20 years later, they are still good friends. There are no regrets and no bitterness,” Miller said in an interview, according to Heavy.com. “Marriage was something that didn’t work out, and I had to make the decision sooner or later. I decided to make it sooner.”
Miller also added that this was before Jolie was a mega-star. “Yeah — we’re still friends,” Miller told the Brampton Guardian of their relationship “We were both completely unknown. Angie wasn’t … it was pre all that.”
Jolie agreed. “Well, oddly, love. That’s where I met Jonny, who is still a great friend,” the Maleficent actor told Hello. “So I think of him when I think of that. Although, I’m sure the movie looks so ancient now, but we had a lot of fun making that.”
Angelina Jolie and Jonny Lee Miller wedding was full of blood
When Jolie was married to Thorton in the early 2000s, the couple famously wore one another’s blood in vials around their neck. However, the Laura Croft star’s fascination with blood started long before that. When she wed Miller in March 1996, she wore a pair of black rubber pants and a T-shirt with the actor’s name written on it in blood. “It’s your husband. You’re about to marry him,” she told The New York Times. “You can sacrifice a little to make it really special.”
The Hackers stars were extremely young at the time and separated after just one year of marriage. They ultimately got divorced in 1999, but it’s nice to know they are still friends.
