‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’: Brewster Has a Special Treat for Players on Valentine’s Day
Love is in the air everywhere on Feb. 14, even in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. 2022 marks the second year where players can celebrate Valentine’s Day with love-themed gifts from their animal villagers. However, this time around, the Nintendo game has an added bonus: a gift from everyone’s favorite pigeon barista, Brewster. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players who visit Brewster on Valentine’s Day will receive a limited-time-only treat — here’s what to expect.
Brewster and The Roost café joined ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ in 2021
More than a year and a half after Nintendo released Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo Switch, the developer released a massive update with dozens of new features for the game. One such new addition was The Roost café, a beloved hangout spot from previous Animal Crossing titles. At The Roost, players can interact with NPCs and invite friends over for coffee dates.
Once players unlock the café, which is tucked away inside the museum, they can stop in at any time for a cup of coffee. The barista, a pigeon named Brewster, is shy and reserved at first. However, the more players visit, the friendlier he’ll get. Brewster also gives players a series of rewards based on how many times they visit The Roost.
‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ players can visit Brewster on Valentine’s Day for hot chocolate
Brewster never lets Valentine’s Day go unnoticed. As some Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have already discovered via time traveling, the barista offers a special gift during the holiday. Those who visit The Roost on Valentine’s Day, no matter their friendship level with Brewster, can buy a cup of hot chocolate.
On Feb. 14 only, the first cup players buy that day will automatically be hot chocolate. Brewster will say the beverage is best while it’s warm, so be sure to drink it right away. The villager will remark that the hot chocolate warms their heart, and Brewster will wish them a happy Valentine’s Day.
Unfortunately, Brewster gives only one hot chocolate per customer. After the first purchase, he’ll go back to serving coffee. Players also cannot take the hot chocolate to go.
Longtime Animal Crossing players may recall that this hot chocolate tradition dates back to Animal Crossing: City Folk on the Wii. Some fans were disappointed that they couldn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day with Brewster in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in 2020, so it’s nice to see the tradition finally continue.
Other Valentine’s Day goodies are available for purchase in-game
Hot chocolate isn’t the only Valentine’s Day goodie available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Until Feb. 14, players can purchase a heart-shaped bouquet and an edible chocolate heart from Nook Shopping. Additionally, players will receive these items as gifts from villagers when the holiday arrives. There are six color variations of the bouquet and four of the chocolate heart, so players might need to trade with friends if they want to collect them all.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
