Spring has sprung in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! The snow has finally melted in the Northern Hemisphere, making way for bright green grass and new weather patterns. Additionally, the month of March brings a handful of seasonal events in Animal Crossing, complete with limited-time Nook Shopping items. Here’s what to expect from the Nintendo game this month.

Seasonal changes and Young Spring Bamboo arrive in March in ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’

It’s time to stop making Snowboys and start harvesting bamboo. From Feb. 25 to May 31st, players in the Northern Hemisphere can collect Young Spring Bamboo by chopping bamboo trees. This DIY ingredient is used in several bamboo-themed spring items, including two new recipes that arrived with Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 2.0. Here’s the complete list of Young Spring Bamboo items, per Animal Crossing World:

  • Light Bamboo Bath Mat
  • Yellow Bamboo Mat
  • Bamboo Doll
  • Bamboo Noodle Slide
  • Basket Pack
  • Bamboo Wand
  • Bamboo-Grove Wall
  • Green-Leaf Pile
  • Bamboo-Shoot Lamp
  • Pan Flute
  • Light Bamboo Rug
  • Steamer Basket Set

Additionally, the spring season means new weather patterns. Instead of snow showers and the Aurora Borealis, players have the chance to see thunderstorms, rainbows, and even double rainbows.

March events bring limited-time Nook Shopping items

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can purchase special items for four events in March. First, there’s Hinamatsuri, which wraps up on March 3. Head over to Nook Shopping to buy a Blossom Lantern and a Hinaningyo while they’re still available. Additionally, from March 1 to March 14, players can celebrate Pi Day with a Pi-themed pie. And, thanks to Update 2.0, the pie is now edible!

Later in the month, it will be time to celebrate Shamrock Day, inspired by the real-life St. Patrick’s Day. Animal Crossing doesn’t have an in-game event, but there’s still a chance to get in the green spirit with a selection of Shamrock Day items. That includes a Shamrock Door Plate, a Shamrock Rug, and a Shamrock Soda from Nook Shopping, available between March 10 and March 17. Plus, Able Sisters will sell a Shamrock Hat, Glasses, Shoes, and a Suit.

Finally, players can channel their inner tricksters with a Whoopee Cushion for April Fool’s Day, available from March 26 to April 1.

March marks a milestone birthday for Animal Crossing: New Horizons — 2 years old! However, it’s unclear if Nintendo has plans to celebrate. Hopefully, players will at least find a special item in their mailboxes when March 20 arrives.
