Anitta’s ‘Versions of Me’ Is a Global Pop Album Made for the Dancefloor and Coachella Stage
With her latest release, Brazilian pop music singer Anitta is ready to introduce herself to the masses. Versions of Me is her first album since 2019’s Kisses. Last month, the singer became the first Brazilian solo artist to have the No. 1 song on Spotify’s Global 200 chart. She’s also the first Brazilian artist to perform on the main stage at Coachella.
Born Larissa de Macedo Machado, Anitta shows multiple versions of herself in one album with Latin, EDM, funk, and reggaeton sounds. A truly global superstar, Versions of Me has Anitta singing in Spanish, English, and her native Portuguese. The cohesive project even features different versions of Anitta on the album cover art.
‘Versions of Me’ is a 15 track global party
For her first release on Warner Records, Anitta gifted fans with 15 songs. Loyal fans will recognize previously released songs, including her viral hit “Envolver.” The track earned her a top 10 placement in the Latin Singles Chart and showed up in over 1 million TikTok videos. The sexy music video features an athletic dance routine requiring confidence and strength that the superstar pulls off with ease.
“Me Gusta,” featuring Cardi B and Myke Towers, was released in 2021. While the alternative sounding “Boys Don’t Cry” and “Girl From Rio” (which cleverly samples “Garota de Ipanema”) were released in 2022.

New songs showcase Anitta’s versatility highlighting her global appeal
While the established hits are good, the new tracks are even better.
“Versions of Me” is pure pop goodness made for radio. The title track could easily be a Dua Lipa hit with ‘80s synth chords and alto vocals. Yet Anitta conveys her own style on the finished product. The most commercialized song on the album, “Versions of Me,” didn’t sacrifice quality to get there—a tricky dance in today’s pop music industry.
The second track off the album, “Gata,” brings carefree energy with a feature from Chencho Corleone. In a song made for summer parties, it’s clear Anitta knows how to have fun. The breakdown during the bridge is unexpected and adds a punch of energy to an already uptempo reggaeton song. “Gata” samples the song “Guatauba” from Plan B.
On “Ur Baby,” featuring Khalid, Anitta has more opportunity to show off her vocal tone. The flirtatious lyrics tell the story of two people wondering what would happen if they got together. “I’m swerving to your lanes/ Okay, ’cause you like danger/ I see it all in your eyes/ Something I know you just can’t hide.” Khalid and Anitta blend well in a more simplistic melody than other tracks.
Anitta will ‘show how a Brazilian party is done’ on the Coachella stage
There’s something irresistible about a confident person. Not fake bravado, putting on a show type of confidence, but someone who truly embraces all they are with flair and enthusiasm. When Anitta performs, her confidence radiates off of the stage. On Friday, April 15, and April 22, Anitta will become the first Brazilian act to perform on the main stage of Coachella.
Anitta’s goal is to expose people to Brazilian culture. When speaking about “Versions of Me,” she recently told Spin Magazine, “I love how the album is a mixture of different rhythms, different cultures, and different languages.” She continued, “A lot of these songs have a bit of Brazil in their veins, culturally. That’s the intention of the album. To give a bit of my culture to other markets and through these fusions I worked on.”
Anitta is excited about her Coachella performance, saying, “We’re going to dance a lot. We’re going to show how a Brazilian party is done. I think people are going to feel that there. I’m very excited for people to see it and get more familiar with my culture.”
Fans can watch Coachella live on YouTube. Anitta will perform on Friday, Apr. 15 and Apr. 22 at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT.
