Josh Duggar might have originally risen to prominence due to his featured role in the reality series 19 Kids and Counting — but it is his recent brushes with the law that have kept his name in the headlines. Duggar and his long-suffering wife, Anna Duggar, are currently dealing with the fallout of his criminal case and preparing for his upcoming trial. But that isn’t the only big change in the family’s life. Just prior to Duggar’s arrest in April 2021, the couple announced that they were expecting their seventh child — and Anna Duggar has recently shared a brand-new update, taking to social media to share the brand-new baby’s name.

Anna Duggar announced the birth and name of baby No. 7 with Josh Duggar

On Nov. 16, 2021, Anna Duggar surprised fans when she took to Instagram to share an update about her seventh child. Duggar posted a sweet image of her brand-new baby girl, captioning the post, “Meet little Madyson Lily Duggar!” and adding a heart emoji. While Duggar kept the caption of her post short and sweet, she did share some birth statistics to her Instagram Story, according to Monsters and Critics.

In her story, the mom of seven announced that baby Madyson was born on Oct. 23, 2021, at 2:39 a.m., weighing in at 7 pounds and 9 ounces and measuring 20 inches long.

While Duggar was probably happy to share the birth of her baby with her followers, she limited comments on the post, probably to prevent any negative comments regarding her husband’s upcoming trial.

Josh Duggar’s trial, which is set for Nov. 30, is the culmination of a scandal that has been several years in the making. It all began in 2019, when Duggar’s Arkansas-based car dealership was raided. It was later confirmed, according to Hello Magazine, that Duggar had “knowingly received child pornography” and “knowingly possessed material that contained images of child pornography,” including “images of minors under the age of 12” in May 2019. At the end of April 2021, Duggar was arrested by federal agents on suspicion of obtaining child sexual abuse material.

Since then, the spotlight has been focused on Duggar as he battles the charges. This is the latest scandal for Duggar, who was outed in the Ashley Madison hack in 2015. Duggar later admitted that he had been “unfaithful” to his wife, Anna Duggar.

Currently, Duggar is preparing to go to court for the case involving child pornography, after four unsuccessful motions to dismiss the case, and is likely preparing to either accept or decline a plea deal.

In April 2021, just weeks before Josh Duggar was arrested, Anna Duggar posted a pregnancy announcement to Instagram. “We are overjoyed to announce baby seven is on the way and we can’t wait to hold her in our arms this fall!” she captioned the post.

In the months since, in light of Josh Duggar’s ongoing scandal, baby updates have been few and far between, although Anna Duggar has remained relatively active on social media.

However, in recent weeks, many fans have speculated that Anna Duggar had welcomed the baby but was delaying posting any sort of announcement. Notably, some fans pointed out that when family patriarch Jim Bob Duggar recently posted on Facebook about having “22 grandchildren,” it was an indirect birth announcement for Josh and Anna Duggar’s new baby.

Some noted that the Duggar family might not want any publicity, so they were delaying the birth announcement — and Anna Duggar’s post for Madyson Lily Duggar seems to confirm that since the baby was born nearly one month ago.
