Amy Duggar King has a message for Anna Duggar. The Duggar family cousin recently took to social media to share some words of support for Josh Duggar’s wife ahead of his sentencing on May 25. Josh was convicted in December 2021 of downloading and possessing material depicting child sexual abuse.
Amy Duggar urges Anna Duggar to divorce Josh Duggar
Amy Duggar did not hold back in her lengthy May 17 Instagram post. The 35-year-old, who occasionally appeared on the Duggar family’s TLC reality shows Counting On and 19 Kids and Counting, told Anna that she needed to protect her children. She also urged her to cut ties with people in her life who are providing “the wrong kind of support” and who want to “protect Josh and his secrets.”
“If no one else in your life is saying it, I need you to understand that there is no shame in divorcing Josh,” Amy wrote in the caption accompanying a photo of the two women embracing at Amy’s 2015 wedding to Dillon King.
Amy offers her support to Anna
Amy acknowledged that Anna’s conservative Christian faith means that she’s unlikely to divorce Josh, despite his felony conviction on child pornography charges.
“You’ve been taught since you were a child that marriage is forever and you prayed for God to send you a partner. You’ve constructed a life and a family with him. You didn’t choose any of this, and your kids certainly didn’t either,” she wrote.
Amy urged Anna to think of her children, who will someday “be old enough to understand what kind of guy their father really is.”
“Please be the role model they need in their life,” she wrote. Amy went on to offer her support if Anna did decide to leave her marriage. “Dillon and I are more than willing to help you. Josh has chosen how history will remember him. By staying and supporting him you’re allowing him to choose that for you, too.”
Anna is standing by Josh
Though Amy would like to see Anna divorce Josh, so far, the mom of seven is standing by her husband. The 33-year-old recently wrote a letter to the judge ahead of Josh’s sentencing. She praised her husband and wrote that she and her children relied on Josh for financial and emotional support.
“Joshua sees the best in people and is willing to walk alongside them to help make their dreams a reality,” she wrote, according to KNWA. “I ask that you consider reuniting us as a family again soon.”
