Jana Duggar married Stephen Wissmann in a surprise August 2024 ceremony. Since then, Jana, who has since moved to Nebraska with Stephen, has been sharing details of her big day. Her most recent YouTube upload revealed Anna Duggar, Jana’s sister-in-law, was in attendance at the big event. Jana’s upload might indicate precisely why Anna wasn’t included in family photos. She showed up to the wedding and committed a fashion faux pas.

Anna Duggar spotted at Jana Duggar’s wedding wearing white

Jana Duggar has been sharing details of her wedding day via YouTube for weeks, and the videos have been pretty revealing. Anna Duggar, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight, is easily visible in several shots from Jana’s recently uploaded wedding video. Duggar family followers quickly noticed something a bit off about Anna’s clothing choice. The Duggar-in-law was seated at one of the front tables, clad in a white dress. Another unknown woman is also seen in the clip wearing a white dress. Still, most guests opted against light colors, as is tradition. Anna Duggar’s odd clothing choice has family followers confused.

Wearing a white dress to a wedding as a guest is largely considered inappropriate. Traditionally, the bride should be the only person in attendance wearing white. According to Martha Stewart, the rule should be taken so seriously that even colors that could read as white in photos, including champagne, silver, light blue, and blush, should be avoided. According to the outlet, there is only one situation in which wearing white to a traditional wedding would be considered appropriate. A guest may wear white only if the bride and groom have requested it. Since most of the guests at Jana’s wedding were not clad in white, it’s safe to assume it wasn’t a request by the couple.

Anna and her children, except for one, were absent from the staged family photos taken on the big day. It is unclear if Jana included any of her children in the wedding party.

Anna Duggar has never shown up to a wedding wearing white before

Anna Duggar married her troubled husband, Josh Duggar, in 2008. While Josh is currently serving a lengthy prison term, Anna remains connected to the Duggar family. She has been around the family so long that she has attended every wedding the family has held. Interestingly, this is the first time she has been caught wearing a verboten color to a Duggar family event.

Over the years, she’s attended weddings for her sisters-in-law, her brothers-in-law, and her own family members. She was even on hand for Amy Duggar King’s nuptials. Duggar family followers spotted Anna at those events wearing various shades of blue or pink. She never attended a wedding wearing anything light enough to be considered problematic. So, why would she opt to wear white now? It’s anyone’s guess.
