She’s an award-winning actor and activist. When she’s not working, however, fans can probably find Anne Hathaway watching the latest season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. For a few separate interviews, she revealed some of her favorite contestants on the series.

Anne Hathaway is an unapologetic ‘Drag Race’ superfan

RuPaul’s Drag Race has a few celebrities who tune in every season to see who will become “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” There’s U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who would watch the series after working at a restaurant in New York to unwind.

Comedian Leslie Jones shared her binge-watching experience on social media. Miley Cyrus is even an honorary member of the Haus of Edwards.

It’s no surprise that Hathaway, a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ community, is a Drag Race superfan who even cried when she met RuPaul on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Monét X Change responded to the shoutout from Anne Hathaway

When Colbert asked her about her favorite episode or part of the series, Hathaway shouted out one contestant from New York.

“Well, I just — Monét X Change’s entire journey and just how amazing she was in season 10, I really take this very seriously. And then the growth between season 10 and season 11,” the actor said before getting emotional. Later, Monét X Change commented on Anne Hathaway’s support for Drag Race and beyond.

“I was not watching the show that day, but on social media, I was getting lots of tags,” Monét X Change said during an interview with Metro Weekly, following the shoutout. “I saw one tag about it, I was like, ‘Oh, cool.’ But I didn’t watch the video. And then, it wasn’t until later I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m seeing this over and over again, this must be real, this must be true.’”

“Anne Hathaway’s been down, been going to drag shows in New York,” the performer continued. “She has always been a fan of the queer community, and drag queens, so it’s nice to see that she was such a fan of mine on Season 10.”

Monét X Change isn’t the only drag performer who earned a shoutout from this actor. During another interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hathaway shared her love for Shangela, a contestant who appeared on several seasons and All-Stars.

Anne Hathway will, reportedly, appear on season 13 of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’

Season 13 may look somewhat different due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. For the first time, however, this actor is set to make an appearance in the series.

According to Deadline, “Anne Hathaway and Scarlett Johansson will surprise queens later this season with interactive video masterclasses.”

There will still be celebrity guests, of course, as well as appearances from a few fan-favorite performers. However, this season will mostly feature Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, Ross Mathews, and RuPaul behind the judges’ panel.
