Ant Anstead Seemingly Slammed Christina Haack’s Parenting on Instagram: ‘Makes My Stomach Sick’
TL;DR:
- Ant Anstead posted a video of he and Christina Haack’s son, Hudson, on Instagram.
- The English TV presenter immediately drew criticism because he previously claimed his ex-wife used Hudson for “commercial endeavors” on social media.
- Ant Anstead replied, saying a child used as a “puppet” for commercial gain made his “stomach sick.”
- Christina Haack shared a photo of Hudson and his older brother the same day.
Ant Anstead seemed to make a dig at Christina Haack’s parenting after posting a video of their son, Hudson, on Instagram. Meanwhile, the former husband and wife, who divorced in 2021, are in the middle of a custody battle.
Ant Anstead filed for full custody in April 2022
In late April 2022, the former Wheeler Dealers co-host filed for emergency full custody of his and Haack’s son. He asked for a change to their current shared custody agreement, with Haack getting alternating weekends with Hudson.
Anstead claimed his ex-wife not only created a dangerous environment for Hudson but also put him at medical risk. He referenced several incidents as proof Haack is an unfit parent.
One where, in Haack’s care, the toddler sustained a sunburn so severe it brought him to tears. He also claimed when he texted her about it, her response was to give Hudson Tylenol.
Additionally, he said Haack returned Hudson to his care without telling him she and her family had coronavirus (COVID-19). As a result, Anstead, who is dating Renée Zellweger, said it halted production on the actor’s latest project.
The Celebrity IOU: Joyride host also asked a judge to keep Haack from posting Hudson on social media for any “commercial endeavor” without his permission.
Just days after Anstead filed for emergency full custody a California Superior Court judge in Orange County denied the request. The reason? Anstead didn’t give Haack enough notice. Plus, he failed to provide evidence proving an urgent need for full custody.
Ant Anstead said there’s a difference between ‘capturing organic moments’ and using a child as a ‘puppet’ for ‘commercial gain’
Anstead and Hudson played soccer in a May 18 Instagram post. In the comments, some people criticized Anstead given his social media request in his full custody filing.
“I thought you didn’t want your son to be exploited on social media,” someone wrote.
“Absolutely I don’t,” Anstead replied. “Being a kid and capturing organic moments in the footsteps of a toddler I’m all in favour of!” he explained, calling it a “lovely diary to keep and look back on.”
Anstead continued, saying it’s the monetization element he has a problem with. “Being a puppet ‘used’ for commercial gain and being made to perform makes my stomach sick,” he said.
“The two are of course very different x x,” he concluded.
Christina Haack posted a photo of Hudson the same day
Haack seemed to fire back at Anstead in her own Instagram post. The same day she too shared a glimpse of their son. The HGTV star posted a photo of Hudson with Brayden, the 6-year-old son she shares with her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa.
In the snapshot, the boys can be seen sitting on a staircase smiling and holding hands. “Occasionally Instagram is reality. Brotherly love. 🤍🙏,” Haack captioned the post.
Next up in Haack and Anstead’s custody battle, they’re scheduled to attend mediation and a hearing in June 2022.
