Apparently, Prince Harry Is Feuding With Prince Charles, Not Prince William
It’s hard to keep track of all the bombshell revelations that came out of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s two-hour chat with Oprah.
Their conversation delved into royal family dynamics, rumors, and accusations of racism. One of the most enduring mysteries the interview cleared up had to do with Prince Harry’s relationship with his family.
Royal followers have been obsessing over a perceived feud between Prince Harry and his older brother Prince William for years. Harry’s discussion with Oprah revealed that he’s not on great terms with anyone in the royal family. But when it comes to a feud, the real issue seems to be with Prince Charles.
Prince William and Prince Harry had a fight over Meghan Markle
The catalyst for the alleged feud between Harry and William all began with Meghan. Before she came along, the Duke of Sussex seemed content to play third wheel to William and Kate, joining them for dinner and getting along well with the royal couple. But then he met Meghan and things got super serious, super quickly.
The story goes that William cautioned Harry to take his time with Meghan and not rush into any permanent commitment. Harry resented that advice. This resulted in a rift that fractured their brotherly bond. And while some royal followers claim it’s all fiction, others insist Prince William and Prince Harry are still at odds with each other.
Oprah asked Prince Harry about the feud with his brother
Viewers loved watching the Oprah interview because the veteran talk show host asked so many hard questions. One of these was asking Prince Harry if he really hated his brother or if it was all made up by the press.
Harry’s answer surprised everyone. “As I’ve said before, I love William to bits,” Harry told Oprah. “He’s my brother. We’ve been to hell together. But we’re on different paths.”
He explained that there was one word to sum up their current state of affairs, and it wasn’t “hate” or “anger.”
“The relationship is ‘space’ at the moment,” the Duke of Sussex said. “And time heals all things, hopefully.”
There’s a real rift is between Prince Harry and Prince Charles
While the feud between Harry and William seems blown out of proportion, there’s a different conflict that no one knew about before the Oprah interview.
While discussing his plans to step back as a senior royal, Harry said, “I had three conversations with my grandmother, and two conversations with my father before he stopped taking my calls.”
When Oprah pressed Harry on the issue, he elaborated on the tension he felt for toward his father. “There’s a lot to work through there. I feel really let down because he’s been through something similar. He knows what pain is like. And Archie’s his grandson,” Harry said.
He continued, “Of course, I will always love him, but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened. And I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship.”
All along royal followers thought Harry and William were fighting. But the real pain is between Harry and his dad, who didn’t offer the support he needed.
