Are Jada Pinkett Smith and Kris Jenner Still Friends?
The Smiths and the Kardashian-Jenners used to be good friends. The two families were connected by the longtime friendship between Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Jaden Smith, but the Jordyn Woods and Tristan Thompson drama from 2019 might have caused a rift.
While Kendall and Jaden are still good buddies (he was one of the many guests at Kendall’s controversial Halloween birthday party), what about their mothers? Are Jada Pinkett Smith and Kris Jenner still friends?
Jada Pinkett Smith sided with Jordyn Woods
Kardashian fans were shocked to learn that Tristan had reportedly cheated on Khloé Kardashian with Jordyn in February 2019. Jordyn appeared on Jada’s Facebook Live series Red Table Talk on March 1 to give her side of the story. In the interview, she maintained that she and Tristan never had sex, but she did admit that the basketball player kissed her while she was leaving an afterparty they both attended.
Jada and Will Smith have known Jordyn since she was born. The 23-year-old’s father, the late John Woods, worked on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and that connection created a tight bond between the Smiths and the Woods.
Jada has always said that Jordyn is like a daughter to her, but she was wary about addressing the cheating allegations because it all hit too close to home. But she told People that Jordyn asked for her help, which led to the Red Table Talk interview.
“I just wanted her to have a platform to tell her story. That’s it,” she told People in June 2019. “She’s a young beautiful woman inside and out and me having been a young girl, we sometimes get in situations that we don’t necessarily know how to handle … You just [try to] help young girls navigate through life, through difficult situations we’ve all come across.”
The Smiths and the Kardashian-Jenners don’t follow each other on Instagram
The 49-year-old even acknowledged how close their families were in the interview with Jordyn.
“The friendships between Jaden, Jordyn, and Kylie brought three families together where many bonds were made,” she said. To her credit, Jada tried to stay as objective as possible during the interview, making sure to play devil’s advocate for Khloé’s feelings while speaking with Jordyn.
While Jada was objective in the interview, she did unfollow all of the Kardashians on Instagram during the heat of the cheating allegations. In fact, none of the Smiths follow any of the Kardashians anymore and vice versa. Will, Jada, and Jaden all still follow Jordyn, and Jordyn still follows them. Kendall and Jaden don’t follow each other, but they still hang out, based on Jaden’s attendance at the model’s birthday party.
According to HollywoodLife, Jaden was actually the most supportive of Jordyn during all of the drama, even while he maintained a friendship with Kendall.
“Jaden Smith has been so supportive of Jordyn Woods and there for her constantly,” an insider told the outlet in June 2019. “When Jordyn ran into [Kendall Jenner, 23] at Coachella unexpectedly, Jaden was the one there to make sure everyone was OK. It’s a little hard and uncomfortable for him just given the nature of the situation, however, he’s happy to be friends with everyone.”
The Kardashians reacted differently. The entire family cut Jordyn out of their lives, but they all (including Jordyn) seem to have moved on from the cheating scandal. Given the unfollowing spree both families went on post-Tristan drama, and the fact that Jada and Kris haven’t been seen together since it all went down, it appears that the women have not reconnected.
Kris also staunchly sides with her kids whenever they’re experiencing hardship, which makes sense for a parent to do. Jada—who considers Jordyn family—did her own version of that. While there may not be bad blood between the two women anymore, there doesn’t appear to be a friendship.
