Are Jennifer Aniston and Meghan Markle Friends?

Rumors are swirling that Meghan Markle has another famous Hollywood ally in her corner. As Markle transitions back into life as a private citizen, everyone is wondering what she’ll do next. Will she return to Hollywood? Will she spend time reconnecting with friends, or will she work to craft new connections that could be useful to her plans moving forward? It’s really anyone’s guess, but according to several media outlets, Jennifer Aniston wants to be on team Meghan and Harry. The real question, however, seems to be if Markle and Aniston are actually friends already.

Are Jennifer Aniston and Meghan Markle friendly?

Aniston may be America’s sweetheart, but it’s a pretty big stretch to suggest the Friends star and the Duchess of Sussex are friends. In fact, it seems like, while they run in similar circles, they haven’t actually connected on a personal level, at least not yet.

Radar Online alleges that the two women have a lot in common. The publication, claiming to have spoken to an inside source, reports that Aniston is a huge fan of Markle’s and would like to connect with her on a personal and professional level. The relationship the alleged source has to Aniston was not revealed. Reportedly, the two women have run into each other at various events and have enjoyed warm greetings, but it doesn’t look like their budding friendship has gone much beyond that.

What friends do they have in common?

While Markle and Aniston are not currently friends, they do run in similar circles and share several friends in common. Both Markle and Aniston are close to the Clooneys. In fact, Aniston has been friendly with George Clooney, in particular, for years.

According to E! News, Clooney, and Aniston have been pals since the late 1990s when he made a cameo appearance on Friends. It is also rumored that Aniston, along with her ex-husband, Justin Theroux, were invited to Clooney’s wedding to Amil Clooney, in 2014. The Clooneys also have a close connection to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The famous couple was invited to Prince Harry and Markle’s wedding, and it’s said that Amil, in particular, befriended Markle and helped her settle into life in London.

Aniston and Markle also have common friends in Priyanka Chopra and Ellen DeGeneres. DeGeneres and Aniston have been friendly for years. DeGeneres has also been friendly with Markle for some time. It is rumored that she may even get the first sit down interview with Markle post royal life. DeGeneres and Markle reportedly met while working together at an animal shelter.

Are Meghan Markle and Jennifer Aniston really planning to link up?

While the potential gal pals certainly have plenty of friends in common, neither has expressed an interest in linking up publicly. It looks like the rumor is linked to the fact that Aniston is likely to head to Canada to film a sequel to Murder Mystery, the Netlfix film she starred in alongside Adam Sandler. The Netflix original shot its principal footage in Montreal. It is believed much of the sequel will be filmed in Canada.

Since Prince Harry and Markle plan to set down roots in Canada, it would seem that Aniston’s visit would be fortuitous. It’s possible they could link up while in Canada, but it doesn’t seem likely.  Prince Harry and Markle are currently keeping a low profile in British Columbia. If the sequel films in the same spots as Murder Mystery, that means Aniston will be hanging out in Montreal, which is clear across the country from British Columbia. Contracts for the sequel have not yet been finalized, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Whether or not Aniston and Markle will forge a friendship remains to be seen. There is really no concrete evidence to suggest they will, but there is also no evidence to suggest they aren’t interested in becoming friends and working together. Time will only tell, but it would seem like Aniston would be a good friend to have in one’s corner.
