Though some rise to tremendous success in adulthood, fans always wonder how the rigors of being a Disney child star affect them. Many Disney teen and tween stars don’t have to go at it alone though and can form strong bonds for life with their costars.
Many fans have been wondering if that’s the case for Olivia Rodrigo and Madison Hu since the end of Blizaardvark. The two were tight on the show, but did that translate to friendship when the camera was off?
Who is Madison Hu?
Hu has been around the child actor scene for a while, starting to appear in commercials and films at the age of 6 in 2008 according to IMDb. Hu would make small appearances on TV throughout her childhood, on shows like Tosh.0 and The Goldberg’s.
Hu would make a big breakthrough after getting cast as the recurring character, Marci on the Disney Channel’s Best Friends Whenever in 2015. This success would soon be followed by her casting as the lead role of Frankie on Blizaardvark. While on the show, she would co-star alongside Rodrigo, and much of the show focused on their friendship and adventures together.
Who is Olivia Rodrigo?
Olivia Rodrigo was Paige Olvera in Blizaardvark. While she didn’t have the long childhood of acting Hu did before bagging her Disney job, Rodrigo had one acting credit for her title role in the 2015 straight-to-DVD release American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success.
Before breaking into acting with American Girl and Blizaardvark, Rodrigo focused primarily on singing and writing music. This would serve her well, as after the end of her show with Hu, she was cast in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
The star definitely capitalized on her Disney success recently, as her new album Sour has performed exceedingly well. The single, Driver’s License, even went triple platinum. Olivia Rodrigo wrote on her website that she spent her entire quarantine throughout 2020 writing and recording music, and it seems like it was time well spent.
Are Olivia Rodrigo and Madison Hu Friends?
While the two are pretty busy stars, it seems like they have a genuine connection. The two stars regularly appear on each other’s social media and seem to be true friends with each other. As Disney Channel feuds have been very public in the past, fans probably would’ve heard if these two didn’t get along.
According to The Things, the two have a long history of appearing on each other’s social media and hanging out. While most of their social media posts during the run of Blizaardvark were understandably promotional (because Disney), modern posts show the two stars actually being themselves and getting along with each other.
With a hit album out, Rodrigo may be a little busy right now to hang out with friends all the time, and Hu is on to bigger and better things as well. She recently appeared in Voyagers and is currently filming Night Shift. Though the two haven’t been spotted on red carpets together, by all accounts it seems like they’re still friendly with each other.
Though some antics of Jake Paul since the end of the show have tainted some fans’ memory of Blizaardvark, it’s nice to know something wholesome came out of the show. Knowing how Disney utilizes their personnel, it’s possible fans haven’t seen the last of these two starlets together on screen.
