Are Prince Harry and David Foster ‘Like Father and Son’? Katharine McPhee Thinks So
Now that they are living in Los Angeles, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry are getting a chance to reconnect with their American friends. Meghan is back in touch with her old pal Katherine McPhee, who recently said that her husband, David Foster is like a father to Prince Harry.
The Sussexes have lots of close friends in LA
Meghan and Harry moved from Canada to LA earlier this year with plans to launch their new charity, Archewell. But amidst COVID-19 shelter in place orders, the couple was forced to lay low. As arranged by their good friend Oprah Winfrey, they are currently living in Tyler Perry’s $18 million Beverly Hills mansion with their son, Archie.
And Oprah isn’t their only friend in LA. The high-profile couple has numerous celebrity buddies, including James Corden, Abigail Spencer, and Priyanka Chopra. And Meghan’s close friend, tennis champion Serena Williams, also lives nearby.
Meghan Markle went to school with Katharine McPhee
In 2019, Smash and Scorpion star Katharine McPhee posted an old photo of her and Meghan from school. “Meghan and I did musicals together as kids,” she captioned the photo. “She grew up to be the Duchess of Sussex and I grew up to star on the West End, so same life if you ask me.”
Her photo prompted people to wonder if the two were good friends. Now, in an interview with Access, McPhee revealed that they were never close, but did appear in school plays together.
“She went to a school called Immaculate Heart, as did I,” said McPhee. “She went there for middle school and high school, and I went there just for middle school. I did a couple of shows with her and she was always put together and great. I was never really close friends with her.”

Katharine McPhee says her husband, David Foster and Prince Harry are ‘like father and son’
When talking to Access, McPhee revealed that she and her husband, music mogul, David Foster, try to keep in touch with the Sussexes now that they’re in LA. She also likened Prince Harry’s relationship with Foster to a father and son.
“They’re so cute, they’re like father and son,” said McPhee. “We just stay in touch with them. Meghan and I knew each other from childhood, but really, Harry and my husband are friends, so it’s really nice.”
The actress and singer also revealed that they’re trying to help Meghan and Harry find a permanent house in LA. She noted that with her husband’s connections and resources, they could help the couple find a safe and happy place to call home.
“We just want them to end up wherever they feel safest and happiest,” McPhee added. “David’s the resource guy…he knows all the places, he loves to help people. We just hope they end up somewhere where they feel like they can really settle down.”
