The Smith family has grown up in the spotlight. From a young age, both Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were in the acting sphere. And once the two wed, they raised their two children in that same environment. Now, Jaden and Willow are closer than ever, thanks to Will and Jada’s parenting dynamics. But are they twins?

Jaden and Willow have always been close

Growing up with famous parents isn’t easy. From a young age, Jaden and Willow were thrown into the spotlight, and their father, Will Smith, has admitted that he tried hard to portray his family as perfect. This led to internal struggles between Will and his wife, Jada, and the entire family dealt with the fallout.

Though the family has made it through their lowest points and emerged with more love for each other than before, things weren’t always easy. And Jaden and Willow often leaned on each other to deal with life in the limelight. They’ve had similar interests all their lives, and they’ve spent so much time together that Willow once said it feels like they’re “identical twins.”

Though they aren’t twins, Willow says, ‘It feels like that’

Jaden and Willow are not twins; Jaden is about two years older than his sister. But as they’ve grown up, their close bond has led many to think of them as one in the same. And Willow once revealed that she thinks of them that way, too. “We’re like binary stars, like two parts of one thing,” Willow once told Teen Vogue of her closeness to Jaden. “I know what he’s thinking at all times. And he knows what I’m thinking. We’re not identical twins, but it feels like that in a lot of ways.”

Willow and Jaden always had each other’s backs when they were growing up, and in many ways, they still do. When Willow was at odds with her father following her “Whip My Hair” fame, Jaden was there for her to lean on. And when Jaden became vegan and was damaging his body, Willow was just as concerned for him as her parents were.

The siblings are also close with their older brother, Trey

Willow and Jaden are close in age, but some fans forget that Will Smith has an older son, Trey, from his first marriage. For years, Will and Trey didn’t have a close father-son relationship. Trey’s mother, Sheree Zampino, once said that Trey grew up feeling like he wasn’t loved. Over time, though, Will worked to rebuild his relationship with his oldest son and make sure that his younger kids felt they could lean on their big brother.

These days, Trey, Jaden, and Willow all have a close relationship. Trey has become an important part of the Smith family and attends both public and private events alongside his family.
