Ariana Grande Shares an Update on Mac Miller’s Dog, Myron: ‘He’s a Little Angel’
Singer Ariana Grande is known for her chart-topping hits and her highly publicized relationships. But her devoted fans also know her as a dog mom. After her ex-boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller, passed away, she began caring for his dog, Myron. More than two years later, here’s how Myron is doing, according to Grande.
Ariana Grande and Mac Miller dated for years
Grande and Miller first collaborated with her 2013 single “The Way.” They remained friends for years before working together in 2016 on “My Favorite Part.” They confirmed their relationship after being photographed at the MTV Video Music Awards (above) and dated for more than a year and a half, splitting in early 2018.
“This is one of my best friends in the whole world and favorite people on the planet,” Grande wrote in her Instagram Story (via People) of Miller at the time. “I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us!”
After he died, she took in his dog, Myron
In September 2018, Miller passed away as the result of an overdose. Grande was among those to express her sadness. “I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will,” she wrote in an Instagram tribute, calling him “the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved.”
When they were together, Miller adopted a dog, whom he named Myron. After his death, Grande seemingly took the pup in as her own. She began sharing photos and videos featuring him. And when she and Pete Davidson broke off their engagement, she covered up a tattoo she got in his honor with “Myron.”
Grande shared an update on Myron in 2020
“Off the Table,” a track off her album Positions, features allusions to Grande’s feeling about Miller years later, as she sings, “If I can’t have you, is love completely off the table?” On the Zach Sang Show, the host hinted at this, saying, “I think ‘Off the Table’ and Myron are actually connected in some weird way. Did he hear the song?”
“Myron was sitting underneath my feet when I wrote that,” said Grande. “But I think he loves that song. I think he also loves chewing my headphones and sitting right next to me as I’m working… He’s a little angel. He doesn’t leave me alone much,” she added. “It’s very sweet.”
How many dogs does she have?
Grande has a lot of dogs, some of whom have made it into her videos. “I love the dogs at the end of the [“Positions”] music video,” continued Sang of the album’s first single. “But [it’s] not even half of them,” he noted. “I know! I wanted it to be realistic but not like, me slipping in the snow,” Grande replied. “So, we did a little group.”
Of the scene in question, Grande walks across the lawn with five dogs, including Toulouse, Strauss, and Myron. “Do you have eight?” Sang asked the artist about the number of canines she currently owns. “I lost count a long time ago,” she replied.
