What is Armie Hammer’s Age? How Old Are His Kids?
Armie Hammer has attained substantial fame over the years thanks to his roles in films like The Social Network and Call Me By Your Name. But he also has quite a family legacy. And he got into major hot water after resurfaced texts allegedly suggested he was into cannibalistic fantasies. Rumors aside, what is Armie Hammer’s age today, and how old are his children?
What is Armie Hammer’s age?
Armie Hammer’s age stands at 34, as he was born on Aug. 28, 1986, and he’ll be turning 35 in 2021. And he’s accomplished quite a lot in his 34 years. While some may believe Hammer comes from a line of other actors and Hollywood elites, such is not the case. Instead, he’s the great-grandson of Armand Hammer, an oil tycoon and philanthropist, Biography reports. And Vanity Fair went further into investigating the Hammer family’s wealth.
The publication notes Armand was estimated to be worth around $180 million at the time of his death. And his death was also followed by around 100 claims and lawsuits alleging Armand owed them money. As for the much younger Hammer today, he noted his mother never raised him to act like he was wealthy, as her parents were raised in Oklahoma during the Depression.
“She didn’t allow us to be raised like we were wealthy,” Hammer told GQ, according to Vanity Fair. “We were never just told, ‘Hey, here’s [some cash]’ …. If our friends were getting a $10 allowance, she would make a point of giving us $7.”
While Hammer didn’t find immediate success in acting, he still claimed financial independence from his family and paved his own way until his starring roles were noticed.
Does Armie Hammer have kids? How old are they?
Hammer has two children with Elizabeth Chambers, his wife he met in 2006. Harper Grace Hammer is 6 years old and was born in 2014, and Ford Armand Douglas Hammer is 4 years old, as he was born in 2017. Armie Hammer’s age was 28 when he started having kids. As for Chambers, she’s 38.
While Chambers and Hammer have been together for over a decade, they announced their divorce in July 2020. Hammer then filed for joint custody of his two kids, People reports. But Hammer was having difficulty with the custody battle, as Chambers wasn’t in the U.S.
“As the coronavirus pandemic worsened in the United States, Elizabeth and Armie elected to stay with their children temporarily in the Cayman Islands where the pandemic appeared to be under greater control,” Hammer’s lawyers noted. “Armie returned to Los Angeles this past July, with a promise from Elizabeth that she and the children would follow shortly thereafter. To date, however, Elizabeth and the children remain in the Cayman Islands and Armie has not seen the children in several months now.”
Hammer also noted his main focus in the divorce would be mitigating the effects it would have on their two kids. “Elizabeth and I are two adults making this decision and the priority is how do we do it in a way that affects our children the least,” he noted.
Why are Elizabeth Chambers and Hammer divorcing?
Chambers and Hammer married back in 2010. According to Vanity Fair, Kathie Lee Gifford described them as “the Ken and Barbie of the world.” But a lot was going on for the couple over the years. A friend noted Hammer admitted to being unfaithful to his wife after their son was born. The Hammers were also allegedly in family therapy prior to their separation.
The publication also notes Hammer sent a sext to Chambers that was meant for another woman, and Chambers filed for divorce from Hammer after this. And the alleged (and shocking) texts of Hammer describing cannibal fantasies could’ve been a driving force for the end of their marriage.
“Elizabeth Chambers has been joking to friends that the only thing that makes sense to her, looking back on her marriage, is the Netflix movie starring Zac Efron as Ted Bundy—Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” a friend allegedly noted.
Hammer also noted lockdown was extremely hard on his relationship and ultimately spelled doom. “I don’t think I handled it very well,” he told British GQ. “I think, to be quite frank, I came very close to completely losing my mind.”
