According to E!, in 1997, Shriver was pregnant with the couple’s youngest child. But what she didn’t know was that Mildred Baena, the family’s housekeeper, was also pregnant with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s baby. Reportedly, even Schwarzenegger didn’t realize that during his affair, he had fathered a child. Joseph Baena was born less than a week after his half-brother Christopher Schwarzenegger.
Mildred Baena continued to work for the couple, and her child was often seen with her. No one thought anything of it at first, but as the years went by, the boy started to look more and more like his father. The resemblance was so remarkable that Shriver couldn’t help but notice. She confronted Schwarzenegger, and he confessed to the affair.

US Weekly reports that Shriver filed for divorce two months after discovering the affair. She released a statement saying, “This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect, and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal.”
Schwarzenegger admitted his guilt, saying, “I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children, and my family. I am truly sorry.”
There was no saving the marriage, and the couple soon separated.

Schwarzenegger took full responsibility for his relationship with his son, which is sadly not always the case for celebrities and their children. Baena did not attend half sister Katherine Schwarzenegger’s wedding to Chris Pratt, but he did congratulate her on Instagram. Schwarzenegger did not reference Baena in an Instagram post celebrating National Siblings Day.
