All the Adorable Things We Know About Ashlee Simpson’s Kids
Ashlee Simpson and husband Evan Ross have been married for more than four years. But you probably haven’t heard a lot about them or their family during that time. The New York Times reports that after the 2008 birth of her first child (with first husband Pete Wentz), Ashlee Simpson “retreated from fame to focus on motherhood.”
But since she stayed out of the spotlight for roughly ten years, you may not know what life is like for her right now. Below, check out all the adorable things you need to know about Ashlee Simpson’s kids and her life at home with her family.
Ashlee Simpson has two kids
Ashlee Simpson has two children: one with her first husband, Pete Wentz, and one with her second, Evan Ross. (She sometimes shares adorable photos of them on social media.) Ashlee and Pete split in 2011 after nearly three years of marriage. And they share custody of their son, Bronx Mowgli, who was born in 2008, People reports. When Pete goes on tour, the family talks on FaceTime. And when he’s home in Los Angeles, he makes pancakes and runs around in the backyard with Bronx.
In 2014, Simpson married Evan Ross, the youngest son of Diana Ross and Norwegian businessman Arne Naess, Jr. (Their marriage is the topic of an upcoming reality TV series for E!, Ashlee & Evan.) The couple has a daughter, Jagger Snow, born in 2015. And Ashlee says that she and Evan decided to pursue the TV show because they wanted to broadcast their happiness. Ashlee said, “I feel like people see pictures of us, but they don’t know us.” According to the Times, that’s a “problem” that she hopes their TV series will fix.
Ashlee Simpson, Evan Ross, and Pete Wentz ‘co-parent really well’
Early in 2018, Pete Wentz opened up about the blended family he shares with Ashlee Simpson and his longtime girlfriend Meagan Camper, with whom he has a son, Saint Laszlo, and a daughter, Marvel Jane. Pete and Ashlee share a son, Bronx Mowgli, and he told People that the two “co-parent really well.”
Pete explained, “I have to say, I have really good co-parents to deal with. [Ashlee and Evan] are both communicative and easy-going.” He added, “For Bronx, it’s basically the only life he’s really known. So it’s normal to him, and he’s really good at it. Our schedules can be crazy, so we’ve been good about making sure Bronx has balance.”
Ashlee says that Evan is ‘the sweetest dad’
People reports that Ashlee Simpson characterizes Evan Ross as “the sweetest dad” to their daughter, Jagger. “When we first started dating, I felt that in him. The kids love him,” she explained to the publication. She recently told Us Weekly that her morning routine with her family begins with a 7:30 alarm. “I’m so lucky because Jagger doesn’t wake me up, I wake her up,” she said.
As Jagger dozes in bed with her dad, Ashlee jumps in the shower, and Jagger usually asks to join. During the summer, Bronx likes to sleep in each morning. During the school year, Ashlee and Jagger go downstairs to make pancakes, eggs, or oatmeal for breakfast. Evan packs lunches, typically a turkey sandwich for Bronx and carrots with a side of ranch dressing for Jagger. But as Ashlee explains, “Some days she will eat her lunch and some days not at all.”
Diana Ross is involved in the kids’ lives
Evan Ross told The New York Times that his mom, Diana Ross, is “so involved in our life and music and [with our] kids. As much as she’s still working like crazy, she’s so excited about all the stuff we’re doing and the music.” Diana has also fully brought Ashlee into her family.
Ashlee and Evan even got married at Diana’s estate in Greenwich, Connecticut. According to the Times, “Diana Ross not only hosted but officiated the couple’s ceremony and later, performed at the reception,” singing “Endless Love.” She’s also probably sympathetic to something Ashlee says she struggles with. Ashlee told the Times, “I think for me, as a mom, getting back into music, and getting back to working and like, balancing — that is a real juggle for me.”
Ashlee hopes to have another child with Evan
E! News reports that Ashlee Simpson hopes to have another child with her husband, Evan Ross. In early 2018, Evan said, “I’d love more kids. We’re definitely having another one.” And Ashlee commented, “I want to finish this album and then definitely, for sure. Definitely one more, and then we’ll see what happens after that.”
The couple also shared that Jagger already wants to follow in the footsteps of her grandmother, Diana Ross. Ashlee explains, “Bronx is creative and sweet, and he’s got an old soul. And Jagger is the boss. She’s already like, ‘Give me the microphone and the shiny dresses and I am going to be [Grandma].” Ashlee added, “She loves her [Grandma]. She wants to dress in glitter.”
