Ashley Olsen Apparently Gets Ready in 1 Very Unusual Way
The Olsen twins grew up in the public eye, though these days, they are notoriously private. They hardly ever give interviews and do not often share much about their personal lives. However, once in a while, they might pop up and reveal something unusual. For example, Ashley Olsen once shared that she has a very unusual way of getting ready.
The Olsen twins are now renowned fashion designers
Ashley and her sister, Mary-Kate, rose to fame as actors. They were on on the hit show Full House for eight years of their childhood. Then, the sisters went on to establish their own brand that includes movies, books, dolls, and makeup items.
When the Olsen twins became adults, they shifted their focus to fashion designing. In an interview with Vogue in 2019, Mary-Kate explained their decision to move their work behind the scenes.
“We’ve been there, we’ve done that, we started out that way,” she said. “But this is the way we chose to move forward in our lives: to not be in the spotlight, to really have something that speaks for itself.”
They established a fashion brand called The Row, which has won awards from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Their younger, more affordable brand, Elizabeth and James, has been a hit with the public as well.

In an interview with Elle in 2014, the Olsen twins gave some style tips to readers. In one instance, Ashley also shared her secret method for getting ready, and it involves getting ready in the dark.
“I don’t do this myself, but I feel like the worst beauty habit that people have is when they pick their own skin,” she said. “That’s just really bad. Everyone’s tempted to do it sometimes, but it’s just the worst thing you can do. I prefer to get ready with the lights off so I’m never even tempted to look at my skin!”
Ashley Olsen also has hidden styling talents
Since the Olsen twins are quite private individuals, fans might not know about a lot of hidden talents they have. In the same Elle interview, Ashley revealed that, aside from fashion designing, she is also great at makeup and hair.
“I think I’m pretty good at doing other people’s makeup,” she said. “I think after getting my makeup done for so many years I’m pretty good at that.”
She continued, sharing how she had managed to give her friend a good haircut, “My friend actually also made me cut her hair the other day and that didn’t look too bad either. She had long hair, too. It was down to here [salutes to her belly button] and I cut it up to here [points to just below her shoulder]. She made me do it, but it looks great. I made it a blunt, A-line haircut. And then we had a professional come in after and clean it up a bit! But it was pretty good on its own.”
However, it seems Ashley and Mary-Kate are still putting much of their energy into fashion. Perhaps in the future, they will expand their brand into hair and makeup.
