Ashley Tisdale Reveals Painful Side Effects She Experienced After Giving Birth
Ashley Tisdale became a Disney Channel star in the 2000s for her roles on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and in the High School Musical franchise.
These days, she is also a mother. Tisdale recently gave birth to her first child, and she is opening up to fans about the unexpectedly painful side effects she experienced.
Ashley Tisdale welcomed a child with husband Christopher French
Tisdale married music composer Christopher French in 2014 after dating for two years. Then, in 2020, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together.
Tisdale also opened up about waiting several years before having a kid with her husband. She said on her website Frenshe, “After six years of marriage, we built a strong foundation, and the timing just felt right. I gave it to God and the universe and honestly didn’t feel stressed about it and then it happened very quickly.”
On March 23, 2021, Tisdale gave birth to a baby girl named Jupiter.
Ashley Tisdale experienced painful postpartum side effects
Tisdale has been recovering from pregnancy and labor. She recently penned a blog post detailing her postpartum experience (or the “fourth trimester,” as she calls it), including painful side effects.
“Two weeks after I had Jupiter my body went through so much trying to recover,” Tisdale wrote. “Night sweats, (drenched FYI), blood (gross), and I had some real fun symptoms that aren’t normal postpartum including nausea and extreme back pain. Like level 10 pain to be absolutely clear.”
Tisdale’s back pain got so bad that she admitted she sometimes couldn’t breastfeed her baby. She also added, “There were nights I was crawling onto the floor because my back hurt so bad.”
However, she soon discovered that the back pain may have been the result of her taking Motrin.
“[My doctor] mentioned that Motrin builds acid in your stomach after a while. I had horrible acid reflux when pregnant, and I wondered if this had something to do with that,” Tisdale shared. “I Googled back pain and acid reflux, and there was a link! Thankfully, after taking the medicine my doctor gave me for it and it was completely gone.”
Tisdale ended her blog post by saying that she feels it’s important to be honest about pregnancy and labor experiences instead of hiding “the parts that aren’t so pleasant or cute enough to show on Instagram.”
Ashley Tisdale has talked openly about other parts of pregnancy
True to her words, Tisdale has also opened up about other unpleasant things she experienced during pregnancy. For example, before giving birth, Tisdale wrote a blog post about pregnancy and body image.
“I have to be honest, I haven’t gotten the whole warm and fuzzy feeling about my pregnant body being beautiful,” she said (via Us Weekly). “Don’t get me wrong, I am so proud of my body and I’m so grateful to be able to create a home and grow my little one. However, seeing my body look so different is still a little startling to me. It’s like I don’t fully recognize myself and almost like an out-of-body experience.”
Tisdale shared that she tried to focus on appreciating her body for what it can do. She wrote, “It’s letting go of my own needs because the needs of my baby are more important.”
She also acknowledged that “everyone has a different experience with pregnancy” and that other moms “felt ashamed that they [were] uncomfortable” as well.
