Ashton Kutcher Finally Speaks Out About Demi Moore Following the Release of Her Tell-All Book
Demi Moore left no stone unturned in her book, Inside Out. The tell-all memoir — which hit shelves back in September 2019 — sees Moore revisit everything from her troubled childhood to her addiction issues.
She also details her rocky relationship with her ex-husband Ashton Kutcher and makes a number of damning claims against him. At the time of the book’s release, Kutcher seemingly vowed on Twitter to keep quiet out of respect for his wife Mila Kunis and their family. But now, he’s finally speaking out.
Kutcher opened up about Moore in a new interview and gave an update on the state of their relationship.
A quick timeline of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore’s relationship
According to E! News, Kutcher and Moore met in 2003 through mutual friends. At the time, he was 25 and she was 41. But despite the age gap, the two connected and eventually fell in love.
“You talk about meeting your soul mate. I truly feel I have been given that gift,” Moore told Harper’s Bazaar in 2005 (via People).
That September, the couple secretly married in Beverly Hills, California. Among the guests were Moore’s ex-husband Bruce Willis and their three children: Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout.
Their union would last until November 2011 when Moore announced their separation. The news came just over a month after a woman claimed she had an affair with Kutcher around his and Moore’s wedding anniversary in September 2011. She was at least the second woman to go public with cheating allegations during their relationship. (Kutcher denied the first affair.)
After announcing their split, Moore shared a statement with E! News that said: “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”
Kutcher officially filed for divorce in 2012; it was finalized the following year.
What did Demi Moore say about Ashton Kutcher in her book?
In Inside Out, Moore gives an in-depth account of their romance. She writes that things started out strong but took a turn over time. Moore says she started to feel insecure in their relationship at some point and “went into contortions to try to fit the mold of the woman [Ashton] wanted his wife to be.”
This included having threesomes with him and other women. But that only made things worse. According to Moore, the threesomes eventually led to Kutcher’s infidelity.
“Because we had brought a third party into our relationship. Ashton said that blurred the lines and, to some extent, justified what he’d done,” Moore explains in the memoir.
After a while, Moore says that Kutcher decided he no longer wanted to be married to her. This left her shocked, wondering: “How did I get here?”
Moore adds: “The husband who I’d thought was the love of my life had cheated on me and then decided he didn’t want to work on our marriage. … Is this life? I wondered. Because if this is it, I’m done.”
Amid the book’s release, Kutcher seemingly spoke out against the memoir on Twitter. He admitted that he was “about to push the button on a really snarky tweet” but deleted it after thinking of his family.
Ashton Kutcher talks about his relationship with Demi Moore
On Feb. 3, Kutcher appeared on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast and finally spoke on Moore. He said that while he has a “good” relationship with the Ghost actress, they “don’t hang out.”
However, he said he still keeps in contact with her children. “I make a really conscious effort to stay in touch with the girls,” Kutcher added, noting that he essentially helped raise them.
“Tallulah was eight or nine, she was the youngest. Rumer was 12 or 13 when we first started dating,” he went on. “When we were getting divorced, Tallulah was graduating high school.”
Given that he shared a close relationship with them, Kutcher said he’ll always have a place in his heart for Moore’s kids.
“I love them. And I’m never going to stop loving them, right?” Kutcher continued. “And respecting them and honoring them and rooting for them to be successful in whatever they’re pursuing.”
Though their romance did not work out, at least Kutcher and Moore have remained cordial and kept the drama to a minimum. We’re glad to see it.
