‘Atlanta’ Season 3 Release Schedule, How Many Episodes, 2 Episode Titles
Fans have been waiting years for Atlanta Season 3 on FX. Creator Donald Glover always planned to take a break after Robbin’ Season in 2018. Just when Glover was ready to return to Atlanta, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic delayed production. Showbiz Cheat Sheet is here to help you with Atlanta Season 3’s release schedule, episode titles and how to watch.
Plus, Glover and writer/executive producer Stefani Robinson spoke about the new season at a Television Critics Association panel on Feb. 17. Here’s what to expect from Atlanta Season 3 episodes.
‘Atlanta’ Season 3 Release Schedule: Thursdays on FX
Atlanta Season 3 premieres Thursday, March 24 with two new episodes at 10 and 10:30 p.m. After that, a new episode premieres every Thursday at 10 p.m. until May 19. Those episodes become available to stream on Hulu every Friday, so you have two options to watch Atlanta Season 3.
Actually three: Watch live on FX Thursday nights or set your DVR. Or, wait for episodes to stream on Hulu and watch them Fridays or over the weekend.
The first 2 ‘Atlanta’ Season 3 episode titles
FX released the titles of the first two episodes of Atlanta Season 3 when they screened them for critics. Episode 1 is called “Three Slaps” and revolves around a new character, a young child who calls social services and ends up in a far worse home.
“I think that episode is so emblematic of the entire season and, I guess, our experiences,” Robinson said. “It was so haunting and eerie and there was so much darkness and confusion with that real life story. But I think the entire season, from my perspective, is just about the idea of curses and what that means and the burden of that and the haunting of that and the trickle down effect of some really dark things and the generational spookiness.”
Episode 2 is called “Sinterklaas is Coming to Town.” Atlanta Season 3 catches back up with Earn (Glover) and Paper Boi (Henry) where they play a college party in Amsterdam where a holiday tradition involves blackface.
You won’t have to wait long for more
After waiting four years between seasons 2 and 3, Glover didn’t take any chances with Atlanta Season 4. They filmed Atlanta Seasons 3 and 4 back to back, so season 4 is ready to air at the end of the year. Glover previewed a lighter tone in the final season.
“Season 4 was ‘have more fun,’” Glover said. “That was the theme we had. Season 4 became, like, just have more fun because once you go through that cycle that you realize, ‘Oh, we did [it.] We just did Season 4 what we did in Season 1,” which was act like we were going to get canceled.”
