Attention, Hearties: Hallmark Drama Plans ‘When Calls the Heart’ Marathon for March 1
Do you need a little more When Calls the Heart in your life? Season 7 of Hallmark’s frontier drama premiered Feb. 23, with new episodes continuing to air on Sunday nights. But if you want to catch up on what happened last season, you’re in luck. The network is planning a special WCTH marathon.
The ‘When Calls the Heart’ marathon starts March 1
On Sunday, March 1, Hearties can tune in to a When Calls the Heart marathon on Hallmark’s sister station Hallmark Drama. It kicks off at 11 a.m./10c with the fourth episode in season 6, called “Heart of a Mountie.” That episode marks the first appearance of Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry), the new mountie in Hope Valley, who becomes saloon owner Lucas Bouchard’s (Chris McNally) rival for the affections of widowed Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow).
Five more season 6 episodes will air on Hallmark Drama on Sunday. At 5/4c, you can catch the show’s 2019 Christmas special: When Calls the Heart: Home for Christmas. That will be followed by a rebroadcast of last week’s season 7 premiere “A Moving Picture” at 7/6c.
Other ways to catch up on ‘When Calls the Heart’ Season 6
If you don’t get Hallmark Drama but still want to catch up on last season’s WCTH episodes, you’re not out of luck. While the season hasn’t yet made its way to Netflix in the U.S. — much to the dismay of fans — you can purchase season 6 on Amazon or iTunes. Or, if you get Hallmark Channel as part of your cable package, you can watch old episodes of the show through the Hallmark Channel Everywhere app.
What to expect from the next episode of ‘When Calls the Heart’
The second episode of When Calls the Heart Season 7 is titled “Heart of a Father.” Nathan gets an unexpected visit from his father, which causes turmoil as he weighs past broken promises against the benefits of reconciling with his family. It’s not clear exactly what caused the rift, but in the preview, Nathan’s father says that he’s “done my time,” while Nathan tells his niece that her grandfather isn’t necessarily “a good person.” Fortunately, Elizabeth is there to help him navigate the family tensions.
Meanwhile, Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) advises Clara (Eva Bourne) and Jesse (Aren Buchholz) on their wedding plans. Plus, Bill (Jack Wagner) and Lucas (Chris McNally) lose customers when a rumor spreads.
The episode will be followed by the Hallmark Channel premiere of episode 2 of the When Calls the Heart spinoff When Hope Calls at 9/8c. Lillian (Morgan Kohan) and Grace (Jocelyn Hudon) get a visit from Hope Valley’s Rosemary and Lee Coulter (Kavan Smith), who bring lumber and supplies to help Brookfield rebuild after a devastating fire.
