‘Bachelor in Paradise’: Blake Horstmann Doesn’t Regret Releasing Caelynn Miller-Keyes’ Text Messages and Will ‘Never’ Apologize
Bachelor in Paradise is the place where Bachelor alums go to find love. Unfortunately, some end up having their reputations ruined while on the show. For Blake Horstmann, Paradise didn’t exactly go as he intended. When he arrived, he was confronted about hooking up with several women in Bachelor Nation in quick succession. Caelynn Miller-Keyes was the first one to call out Horstmann’s bad behavior. In response, he released some private text messages between him and Miller-Keyes. Now, over a year after the incident, Horstmann still doesn’t regret anything that he did.
Blake Horstmann’s time on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’
When both Horstmann and Miller-Keyes showed up on season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise, the former beauty queen revealed that the two had had a relationship prior to coming to the beach.
“I thought he was a great guy and that we really had something,” she told bartender Wells Adams. “We talked about skipping Paradise and coming out with us, and then he ghosted me. Just like fully stopped communication and now I’m here. F*cking first day. And then we saw each other at a music festival. He ended up sweet-talking me and we spent the night together. And we wake up and I’m in his bed and he’s DMing Hannah G. I’m still in his bed, he’s talking about how hot Tayshia is. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Like no dude, that’s not okay. And then he was like, ‘I just want to let you know I hooked up with Kristina the night before.’”
This narrative caused Horstmann to have a hard time on the beach. He ultimately ended up going home after failing to make a connection.
Blake Horstman texts released
After Miller-Keyes’ version of events aired on BIP, Horstmann took to Instagram to release some text messages between him and Miller-Keyes in order to clear his name.
“I want the get the truth out,” he said in a post on Instagram. “I was not able to defend myself down in Paradise, because me and most of the beach had no idea the things Caelynn was saying in her interviews. I NEVER ‘sweet-talked’ her at Stagecoach. Caelynn and I were NEVER in a relationship. I NEVER ghosted Caelynn, I NEVER called her a mistake and I absolutely NEVER EVER EVER silenced Caelynn. I never expected to have to do something like this, but after finally seeing the episodes I feel like I have no other choice but to release the text exchanges between her and myself.”
In the texts, Miller-Keyes seemed to be the one pursuing Horstmann while he made it clear that if she did come over, it would just be for sex. In another conversation, the two discussed how they were going to approach their hookup on Paradise.
“Dude I’m shaking/Who knows?/And how?/We’ve been so careful/What happened?” Miller-Keyes texted.
“I really don’t want to tell people but I also don’t want people finding out and looking like a liar,” she continued.
Blake doesn’t regret anything
As the summer is around the corner, people are already thinking about who is going to be on Bachelor in Paradise this season. Though Horstmann didn’t find love last season, he doesn’t regret releasing Miller-Keyes’ texts.
“I don’t regret it. I’ll never really apologize for that,” Horstmann told Us Weekly on the Here for the Right Reasons podcast. “I’m never gonna regret [or] apologize for defending myself.”
Horstmann went on to compare what happened to him on BIP to the controversy surrounding Rachael Kirkconnell on Matt James’ season of The Bachelor after photos of her at a plantation party surfaced.
“Do I wish that situation would have never happened, do I wish there was any other way? I mean, the way I look at is — remember how it this season, Rachael, like, they wouldn’t let Rachael put out a statement? That’s kind of what would have happened to me,” he said. “But I told them to F off. I was like, ‘No, like, I’m gonna fight.’ So no, I don’t regret that, I don’t. And I would do it again if I had to. I just wish it didn’t have to come to that, but it did.”
