‘Bachelor in Paradise’: Dean Unglert Dishes on Caelynn Miller-Keyes’ ‘Unconditional Love’ and How They Make Their Relationship Work
Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes are arguably one of the most surprising couples to come out of Bachelor in Paradise. After breaking up on the show and then getting back together, the pair have been going strong for over a year and have even bought a house together. Now, Unglert has opened up about how he and Miller-Keyes keep their relationship going strong.
Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes’ time on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’
Miller-Keyes had been excited to meet Unglert from the moment that she got on the beach. When he finally did come, the two hit it off and were pretty inseparable. Unglert, who was living in his car at the time, ultimately felt that their lifestyles would not be compatible and broke up with Miller-Keyes on her birthday. When Unglert left the show, Miller-Keyes tried to date other people but it was clear that she had never gotten over Unglert. Luckily for her, Unglert later came back and asked her to leave the show with him.
Dean and Caelynn’s life together
On paper, it didn’t seem like Unglert and Miller-Keyes would work. She was a beauty pageant queen and he was a guy who liked living in a van and taking showers in public places. But Miller-Keyes ended up loving life on the road.
“Adjusting with Dean has been interesting because he lives in a van, but it’s been really fun,” she told HollywoodLife in 2019. “We’re doing a road trip in the van next week. I love the van, surprisingly and he brings out a different side of me. We just did…Hawaii on a motorcycle, which I’ve never been on and it was 11 hours on the back of a motorcycle.
“He just makes me more adventurous and brings out the fun side in me,” she continued. “He has me being more of a minimalist. And – I don’t know – there [are] two sides of me. I say there’s the Miller side of me and the Keyes side of me. My mom’s side and my dad’s side and he brings out the Miller side of me more. The adventurous side.”
On a recent episode of Unglert’s Help! I Suck at Dating podcast, Unglert opened up about how Miller-Keyes helped break down his walls.
“I can be my dirtiest, grungiest self — doesn’t matter,” he said. “She still loves me and accepts me and appreciates me for being that. I think that’s the biggest thing.
“Unconditional love is a big part of it,” he continued. “I think I’ve had that before, but I’ve never been able to fully receive it until just recently.”
Unglert recalled telling Miller-Keyes about his flaws at the beginning of their relationship.
“Hey listen, I just want to let you know these are my faults, these are my flaws,” he told his co-host, Jared Haibon, of how he presented himself to Miller-Keyes. “I like to be alone, sometimes I need to get away … I want you to see these sides of me.”
“She has always been very encouraging and supportive of all those things,” he continued.
