Maurissa Gunn and Riley Christian got engaged on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’
Bachelor in Paradise doesn’t work out for everyone who sets foot on the beach, but it certainly worked for Maurissa Gunn and Riley Christian. They built a seemingly long-lasting relationship while in Paradise, and Riley got down on one knee for Maurissa at the end of the season. The couple left the show happily engaged.
According to Bachelor Nation, Maurissa went to Detroit, Michigan, to meet Riley’s family right after the show wrapped. The couple posted a photo to Instagram showing the trip.”A quick trip home to take the Queen to meet the Queen!” Riley captioned the photo of Maurissa and his mother.
In October 2021, the couple discussed wedding plans, too. In an interview with Us Weekly, Maurissa said she was still flying back and forth between Atlanta, Georgia, and New York City to see Riley. But she looked forward to moving in with Riley, getting married, and having kids.

So, are Maurissa Gunn and Riley Christian still together today now that Bachelor in Paradise is far in the rearview? Fans think there’s evidence to suggest they broke up. According to Page Six, Maurissa deleted a number of photos of Riley from her Instagram. Additionally, she posted a photo of herself in the mirror, and fans noticed her engagement ring was missing.
A fan commented on Riley’s Instagram that Maurissa changed her public relationship status as well. “Maurissa changed her relationship status to single on Facebook,” the fan wrote.
So, when did the couple possibly break up? According to Reddit fans, their last Instagram Stories together were on Dec. 27 and Dec. 28 2021. Maurissa visited Riley in New York and left on the 30th. “After that, it was just stories of sitting in bed with her family or food stories until yesterday,” the fan examined. “I imagine they were trying but one or both of them realized it wasn’t working.”
“Maurissa appears to be living in Atlanta again, and single,” another Reddit user wrote. “She was posting at a football game (somewhere that they commonly would be lovey dicey and posting pictures together). I’m fairly sure something major must have happened as it seemed like everything was fine until the ‘grand unposting’ as I like to call it.”
Riley Christian posted a tweet that may point to a breakup
In addition to Maurissa Gunn and Riley Christian deleting photos of each other, Riley created a tweet that might point to a breakup on Jan. 6, 2022.
“Try not [to] be stagnant when facing obstacles that are beyond your control,” he tweeted. “Just do what you can. That way, when things finally do fall into place, you’ll be able to hit the ground running.”
Prior to this tweet, he retweeted a quote on Jan. 4, 2022. “If it compromises your mental health or happiness don’t be afraid to walk away!” the tweet reads.
He didn’t directly mention his relationship, but given the rumors, it seems likely the Bachelor in Paradise alum is referencing what everyone else is talking about.
