Following Harrison’s interview with Rachel Lindsay on Extra, he stepped down from The Bachelor franchise as host. His first replacement was Emmanuel Acho, a sports broadcasting journalist and author. Acho handled The Bachelor: After the Final Rose, having conversations about race with Matt James’ contestants. Following Acho’s hosting duties, ABC announced that former bachelorette leads Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe would take over hosting The Bachelorette, the next franchise show.

There was a big question mark in viewers’ minds, though, on whether Harrison would return to host Bachelor in Paradise.

Well, now the audience has an answer. Variety reported on June 2 that a slew of “celebrity comedians” will host the summer dating show. The outlet reported that the only person whose deal is “closed” is Spade.

“The role will be filed by celebrity comedians — including David Spade — who will serve as guest hosts, according to those with knowledge of the plans,” Variety shared. “As of Wednesday, offers to celebrity talent were still being considered and Spade’s deal was the only one to have closed. Unlike the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, which premieres next week, Bachelor in Paradise will not be hosted by Bachelor Nation alums.”

Even though Spade has never hosted any of The Bachelor franchise shows before, he is a longtime fan. He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2015 and 2020 and discussed the dating show, and posted episode recaps on his Instagram account.

In his most recent Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance on March 12, 2020, Spade recounted Peter Weber’s final episode in Australia. Spade also did an impression of Hannah Brown and her Alabama accent.
