‘Bachelor in Paradise’: Kendall Long and Joe Amabile Were Never Engaged, Here’s Their Complete Relationship Timeline
Kendall Long and Joe Amabile‘s relationship has been a topic of conversation this season of Bachelor in Paradise. The two met on season 5 of BIP and began a serious relationship. Two years later, they called it quits and now, they are both on Bachelor in Paradise again. So, let’s break down their complete relationship timeline.
Kendall and Joe met on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ season 5
Neither Joe nor Kendall had much luck in love in the Bachelor franchise before Bachelor in Paradise. Joe was actually sent home on night one of Becca Kufrin’s season of The Bachelorette. Kendall made it further on Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season, getting all the way to the Fantasy Suites before getting sent home. But both of their heartbreaks served a purpose as they both ended up on Bachelor in Paradise Season 5. When Joe and Kendall met, they connected instantly. They had the same sense of humor and seemed to really get along.
Their relationship was briefly put in jeopardy when Leo Dottavio showed up and tried to woo Kendall but eventually, Kendall chose Joe over Leo. The two didn’t end the season together but by the reunion, they had rekindled their romance.
“I feel like the one thing with Joe is that he’s just very honest and genuine and puts it all out there with who he is. He doesn’t really hold back,” Kendall told Us Weekly at the time. “That was one thing that I really appreciated here on Paradise. I just cracked up so hard. … He’s just a great guy. He’s an amazing man. So just had to follow what I was feeling.”
From moving in to breaking up
In Apr. 2019, the two moved in together. But less than a year later, they broke up.
“We have decided mutually to go our separate ways. Joe has made the decision to move back to Chicago while Kendall will be remaining in her hometown of Los Angeles,” they said in a joint statement in Jan 2020. “Our family and friends have always been an extremely important element to who we are as people. We can’t imagine continuing our lives without them closer, especially when thinking of starting a family of our own one day. We both respect each others’ decision and still have a great deal of love for each other. We appreciate all the love and support everyone has given us throughout our relationship.”
It wasn’t until much later that Kendall revealed the reason for the split.
“It was a little bit of a surprise,” she told Entertainment Tonight of her breakup. “But I think, ultimately, Joe foresaw his happiness and work in Chicago, and I can’t resent him because of that. And for me, I just never foresaw a future there.
“So I think that it became an ultimatum within itself, where either I move to Chicago or we break up, and I didn’t really wanna have a relationship like that,” she continued.
Kendall and Joe did a little flirting post-breakup
In April 2020, Joe and Kendall gave fans a little hope when they started flirting on Twitter during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“I miss hanging out with people,” Joe tweeted.
“Am I included in this ‘people’ group?” Kendall responded.
Kendall and Joe on ‘Bachelor in Paradise season 7
Now, both Kendall and Joe are on Bachelor in Paradise Season 7. Unfortunately for Kendall, Joe had already formed a strong connection with Serena Pitt by the time she arrived. In the preview for the upcoming episode, it seems like Kendall won’t be able to take watching Joe and Serena get close for much longer.
