No relationship on Bachelor in Paradise is ever completely safe. As we’ve seen this season, it doesn’t take much to break up even some of the strongest couples on the beach. When it comes to Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile, the two have survived one of the biggest trials that can happen to a couple, having Joe’s ex-girlfriend, Kendall Long, on the beach. But can the pair survive the return of Kendall?

Kendall and Joe have history

[This article contains potential spoilers for Bachelor in Paradise]

Though Serena and Joe are forming what appears to be a really strong connection, Joe and Kendall have a lot of history. The two met on Bachelor in Paradise Season 5 and started a relationship. Afterward, they dated for almost two years and even moved in together, but ultimately they broke up due to logistics.

“It was a little bit of a surprise,” Kendall told Entertainment Tonight of the split. “But I think, ultimately, Joe foresaw his happiness and work in Chicago, and I can’t resent him because of that. And for me, I just never foresaw a future there.

“So I think that it became an ultimatum within itself, where either I move to Chicago or we break up, and I didn’t really wanna have a relationship like that,” she continued.

Kendall and Joe were thinking of marriage after ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Season 5

Kendall and Joe’s relationship wasn’t just a fling, the two were thinking about spending forever together.

“If anyone knows me, I’m not the person that plans my wedding and I was literally doing that with Joe,” Kendall once said on the Down to Date podcast. “But something weird about ending something with someone that you thought you were going to marry is almost… you feel like you have such a better idea of what you’re looking for.”

Does Kendall steal Joe from Serena in the ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ finale?

The first time that Kendall appeared on the beach, it was unclear what her motives were. She went straight for Joe as soon as she arrived and rehashed the details of their breakup. Joe left the conversation feeling like Kendall was on the show to meet someone else. However, as he and Serena continued getting closer, Kendall couldn’t take watching him fall in love with someone else in the same place they did.

When Joe finally told Kendall that he was sure they were over, Kendall sent herself home. However, in the previews for the finale, Kendall makes a reappearance on the beach. It’s unclear exactly what Kendall returns for, however, according to Reality Steve, Joe and Kendall don’t get back together her second time on the beach, either.
