‘Bachelor In Paradise’: Krystal Nielson & Chris Randone’s Split Was Predicted by Fans
Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone’s first meeting, first date, first kiss, and their wedding were all captured on the Bachelor in Paradise. It’s all documented on camera, that is, everything except their separation.
After almost eight months of marriage, Nielson and Randone announced their split on Feb. 14, 2020. However, fans predicted the couple was heading down this road weeks before it happened. Let’s take a look at how viewers saw the split coming.
Why is the ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ couple — Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone — splitting up?
The pair met during season 5 of the BIP series and then married June 16, 2019, at Vidanta Resort in Nuevo Vallarta. The couple announced their split two days shy of their eight-month anniversary.
“It hurts to announce that at this moment, we have mutually decided to separate,” read the statement from Nielson and Randone on Bachelor Nation. “Never did we imagine this scenario, but we’ve come to a point where we both need to work on ourselves.”
The couple discussed starting a family in 2020, so this news comes as a shock to many fans.
“We are best friends that love and care for each other so deeply,” continues the statement. “We’ve appreciated everyone’s love and support so far throughout our journey, and we just ask that you, please respect our privacy as we navigate through this.”
How did fans know that Nielson and Randone were about to split?
Two weeks before the announcement, BIP fans debated whether or not a separation was imminent after the news of Joe Amabile and Kendall Long’s breakup surfaced.
“I feel this way about Chris and Krystal and am calling it now that they’re next,” one Reddit user commented. “Their posting activity has completely changed since Christmas, with the exception of Chris appearing on Krystal’s page in the fertility post, which was also an ad.”
Nielson’s Instagram page is solely focused on her health and fitness coaching in 2020, except for the fertility ad below.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t last,” another Redditor commented two weeks ago. “Chris seems to bring a lot of unwanted attention to them, and I think Krystal really wanted to thrive in her fitness and health career post-show, and I think Chris has hindered that for her.”
It looks like fans saw the split coming based on the couple’s social media activity since the holidays. Randone took his Instagram account down entirely after the announcement; however, Nielson’s is still up and active.
Fans also debate whether or not Chris’ mental health affected the couple’s marriage
“Chris has only made one post in 2020, too, and it was about depression,” another Redditor observed. “So, I hope they’re ok on a mental health front.”
Other fans added that although feelings of depression might not be from their marriage, it could hinder their relationship.
“I will say that depression doesn’t always mean you’re unhappy with your relationship,” added another user on Reddit. “It’s a health condition that happens to you regardless of how good or bad your life is. It’s usually a difficult thing for the partner without depression to cope with, though, and that can cause a lot of struggles because they feel lonely and stressed.”
At this point, the couple did not indicate that their mental health had anything to do with their split.
