Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile’s relationship on Bachelor in Paradise has been a bit of a rollercoaster. From Serena accepting a date with another suitor to Joe’s ex, Kendall Long, showing up on the island, the two have weathered a couple of storms, including an actual tropical storm that hit the island while filming. Recently Joe and Serena took to Instagram to give BIP fans an update on their engagement.

Many fans know relationships in The Bachelor universe move at warp speed, but Bachelor in Paradise might give contestants the least amount of time. Reality Steve claims season 7 only filmed for three weeks. Luckily, Serena and Joe both arrived on the first day of BIP, giving them the entire time to form a solid relationship.
Leave it to this show to spring one more surprise on contestants at the last moment. Kendall showed up as Joe waited to propose to Serena. Not even that changed his mind, though. On the Oct. 5 finale, “Grocery Store Joe” popped the question.
“It happened fast — faster than I thought, but at this point I don’t see myself not wanting to wake up with you by my side. When I think about forever, you know, it’s scary. Then I think about it with you and it feels right. You told me you were falling in love first, you told me you loved me first, and now, it’s my turn. Serena Pitt, I love you very much. Will you marry me?”
Serena was thrilled with the proposal and smiled through happy tears as she accepted the Neil Lane diamond engagement ring. The two hugged and traded “I love you’s” with the ocean waves in the background.

Joe’s Instagram update showed Serena sitting on his lap as he kissed her on the cheek. His caption simply read, “My Everything ❤️”

One of the deciding factors in the demise of Joe and his ex-girlfriend Kendall’s relationship was that neither were willing to relocate. Long-distance romances typically only last so long, so it’s reassuring to hear that Serena is comfortable with moving to Joe’s hometown of Chicago.
Back in August, images surfaced of the couple getting cozy in the Windy City. This, of course, hinted that Serena and Joe were still together even before they confirmed their status on social media.
The couple hasn’t set a wedding date yet, but they’re both OK with that. On a recent episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, the couple talked about how they don’t plan on rushing down the aisle. In fact, the two are looking forward to some downtime.
Serena said, “It’ll be nice to just take a breath, date, live together, and then marriage will come down the line.”
