Bachelor in Paradise is supposed to be about finding love, but social media does come into play. Chelsea Vaughn reveals how stars talk about their jobs influencing when they’re not filming.

Brendan Morais and Pieper James talked about Instagram followers on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’

It’s a constant question on the Bachelor shows of whether the stars are there for the “right reasons.” You have to be there for love, and if there’s any sense that you might be there for fame, you get called out.

Brendan Morais and Pieper James were on Bachelor in Paradise Season 7. There was a rumor that they had already dated before doing the show, which led to other stars asking why they were on the beach? Natasha Parker accused them of being there for clout.

A scene of Pieper and Brendan talking privately was shown. He asked her if she had read an article, that was probably about them. She said yes and told him, “you’re welcome,” for getting him more followers. “That’s insane that you have 10,000 followers,” he told her. “Remember when I hit 70?” she asked him. They then talked about how much screen time they will get this season, which will lead to more followers.

Natasha and Joe Amabile called them out for not being there for the right reasons. Pieper and Brendan left the beach. Fans turned against them after the episode aired, and their followers dropped.

Social media was a hot topic in season 7. Vaughn revealed Brendan and Pieper are not the only ones who talk about it on the Game of Roses podcast. They just got caught.

“Not like during filming,” the model said. “I think people would be afraid to talk about that during filming. Obviously, in that clip, they didn’t think they were being filmed at the time. I think that was obvious. But like in real life, yeah, we all talk about that.”

The reality stars tend to look out for each other in these unseen conversations. “We even talk about our rates and stuff to make sure,” she explained. “Like, ‘Hey, what did you get from this brand?’ Like, make sure we’re getting the same thing. Or like, ‘What happened when you worked with this?’ Yeah, we all talked about it. It’s our job.”

Vaughn did say some stars were “up on their high horse” by talking negatively about other people mentioning Instagram followers. She said it’s “realistic” to recognize doing the show does help you get followers.

The stars will probably try harder not to get caught talking about social media after that season. But now we know how social media does come up when cameras aren’t on.
