‘The Bachelor’: What Peter Weber Hates to Admit About His Season
When Peter Weber became The Bachelor Season 24 lead, the commercial pilot was confident he would find true love. As we know, things didn’t exactly pan out like he originally planned. But Pilot Pete continues to support the franchise. That said, he still has a few not-so-favorable things to say about his journey.
Peter Weber’s views on ‘The Bachelor’ franchise
Weber was a fan of the ABC reality franchise long before he was cast in Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette. Then even after his heart was broken on the show, Weber still believed in the process.
“I feel so grateful,” Weber said when he was announced as the next bachelor in September 2019. “I have all the faith in the world that this can work for me. And I know it’s going to.”
That said, Weber’s Bachelor journey did not go as expected. Fans weren’t charmed by the cast, as most of the women were depicted as villains by the producers. Weber was also criticized for his indecisiveness. Then at the end of the season, Pilot Pete didn’t find what he was looking for.
Now, it’s been a few months since the messy season wrapped, and the 29-year-old has since found happiness with Kelley Flanagan. But even so, Weber admits it was unfortunate how his Bachelor journey prioritized drama over the love story.
Peter Weber admits his season of ‘The Bachelor’ wasn’t about the love story
In an interview with Bold TV published in July 2020, Weber opened up about his journey on The Bachelor and his hopes for the franchise moving forward.
The 29-year-old touched on Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette, which will be filmed in one location due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Weber then noted it may be beneficial for romance, as the extravagant experiences and travel can create “feelings that aren’t truly authentic.” Without all the distractions, The Bachelor franchise can return to its main focus — the love story.
“It’s going to really force the show to go back to the love story,” Weber said. “And that’s always been what I’ve been a huge fan of.”
Weber also admitted his own season of The Bachelor didn’t tell the love story that he wanted to see.
“Unfortunately, my season wasn’t about the love story,” he said. “There were a lot of other things it was focused on, and I hate to admit that. That’s just the truth, unfortunately.”
Nevertheless, Weber still believes in The Bachelor process — but only if you’re in it for the right reasons.
“There are great things about social media. But unfortunately, I think it has hurt this specific genre of reality TV in the dating world because people have ulterior motives,” Weber said. “But if you’re truly in it for that love experience and for that hope … then do it. 100% do it.”
He later added, “I’ve always been the biggest Bachelor fan. I always will be. And if you truly go on for that hope of finding someone, I’m never gonna turn you down and say don’t do it. Go for it because you never know what’s going to happen.”

Still speaking with Bold TV, Weber revealed he doesn’t necessarily regret his journey on The Bachelor. Overall, the Delta pilot appreciates his experience on the show, particularly with his now-girlfriend.
“No matter how it finally got me to Kelley in the end, through all the ups and the craziness, there are experiences I’ll remember for the rest of my life and I will forever cherish. Kelley and I both,” Weber said. “And even if it didn’t work for us, technically, on the show, we’ll still remember good times from it.”
Meanwhile, it’s clear Weber found his love story with Flanagan outside of The Bachelor bubble.
“We’ll see what the future holds for Kelley and I,” Weber said in a Cameo video, per Today. “But I think it’s a beautiful story. Definitely a beautiful love story of what’s yours is yours and it will always come back to you, no matter what.”
He continued, “That’s kind of been our relationship. We’ve kept coming back in each other’s lives.”
