‘The Bachelor’: How Is Peter Weber Now? The Dating Reality Series Ended in Flames, But Pilot Pete Still Has Hope
At the start of The Bachelor Season 24, Peter Weber made it clear he didn’t want to be remembered for a windmill or fence jump. Instead, he hoped his journey would become one of the greatest love stories the franchise has seen. But by the finale on March 10, fans realized they did not receive what was promised. And after nonstop drama all season long, Pilot Pete ended up single. So how is Weber doing now? It’s been about a month since the dating reality series wrapped and the former bachelor still seems hopeful when it comes to love.
What happened on Peter Weber’s season of ‘The Bachelor’?
Throughout Weber’s season of The Bachelor, the 28-year-old was criticized for his indecisive behavior and the tendency to reward the drama. Meanwhile, it seemed a new villain emerged from Weber’s cast every week and frontrunners didn’t receive much screentime. So many fans found it difficult to root for any sort of blossoming romance.
Then everything went downhill in The Bachelor finale. Weber admitted he was in love with his final two picks, Hannah Ann Sluss and Madison Prewett. But after both women met the Weber family, Prewett self-eliminated due to their differing lifestyles outside of the reality show’s bubble. And despite being torn in two different directions, Weber proposed to Sluss.
About a month after getting engaged, Weber and Sluss broke up. The Delta pilot realized he wasn’t able to give Sluss his full heart. Then The Bachelor production team went after Prewett to get their love story. She reunited with Weber in LA and it seemed the couple would give their relationship another shot. Nevertheless, they were unable to confirm or deny dating, as they both needed time to heal. It was also evident Weber’s parents didn’t approve of Prewett. And less than two days after The Bachelor finale aired on ABC, Prewett and Weber broke up.
How is Peter Weber doing now?
After The Bachelor finale, Weber did not do a press tour to discuss his season. It has been about a month since the ending aired, giving Pilot Pete some time to reflect on his season. Then when speaking with Bachelor Nation’s Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti on the Almost Famous podcast, Weber opened up about how he’s doing now.
“I am doing good. I really am,” Weber said. “It’s obviously been quite the whirlwind for me for the past year. Just kind of looking back on everything, it’s kind of funny to think I’ve been in this … dating world through The Bachelor and The Bachelorette for over a year now. Obviously, it ended a couple of weeks ago. Things are still going on. I know people are still talking.”
Weber also said he had to grow some tough skin, particularly with how his Bachelor journey ended. However, he still appreciates his experience.
“Every day I wake up extremely grateful for the opportunity I had to be on The Bachelorette and then to be the bachelor and look for the girl of my dreams,” Weber said. “I don’t regret it. I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on everything that has transpired — the good decisions I made, the poor decisions I made — and try to grow from that and become a better person moving forward.”
He continued: “I can honestly say I’m doing as good as you can be doing through this pandemic. It’s kind of crazy, just a weird time we’re living in. But I really am doing good.”
Is Peter Weber dating anyone now?
Now on the dating front, Weber is still single after The Bachelor finale. He has been in quarantine with Kelley Flanagan, who made it to Weber’s final five. That said, the former bachelor confirmed they aren’t officially together. Although both Flanagan and Weber teased they had “crushes” on each other during the Almost Famous podcast.
“I am the first person to admit that I have been through so much,” Weber told Higgins and Iaconetti. “The last thing I need to do is to jump into another relationship.”
But even so, Weber is open to whatever happens in the future. Meanwhile, when speaking with Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Weber shared his outlook on love. And it seems he is still as hopeful as he was before The Bachelor happened.
“I wanted to give … a story people could live vicariously through, and inspire them to never settle and look for what I was going to go find. But even though it didn’t work out that way, I still hope that I can inspire people just by seeing me now and where I’m at,” Weber said. “And I’ve always said, I’m not a hopeless romantic because I’m the kind of romantic that never loses hope.”
He continued: “I still have that mindset that the next person is going to be my girl. And if I can still feel that way after what I just went through, hopefully, that can inspire people in a way I didn’t think was possible at the beginning of the season.”
