‘The Bachelorette’ Promo Tells Fans to ‘Respect the Rumors’ Ahead of Clare Crawley’s Season
The Bachelorette Season 16 is just around the corner, and ABC is hyping up Clare Crawley’s journey with an exciting new promo. But did the network just give a hint in regards to the rumors swirling around the forthcoming season? Here’s what went down.
‘The Bachelorette’ Season 16 promo teases the new season
In The Bachelorette promo published on Sept. 22, ABC unveiled a few more clips from Crawley’s premiere and beyond. The trailer kicks off with the new lead in a confessional gushing over her contestants.
“I’m so thankful that these men are fine,” Crawley says as shots of the men flash by. Then in a separate confessional, she states, “This is the perfect place to fall in love.”
However, it’s not all fun and games, especially when it comes to Crawley’s heart. The latest bachelorette’s theme is all about respect, which is no surprise considering her famous breakup with Juan Pablo Galavis on The Bachelor. But regardless, Crawley seemingly calls out a cast member early on in the season.
“Do not ever talk to me like that,” Crawley tells a contestant in the preview. And in another shot, the Sacramento hairstylist says, “It makes me sick.”
Meanwhile, the narrator notes The Bachelorette Season 16 will not be the most dramatic, but rather, the “most shocking” season ever. “We respect your wishes. The Bachelorette is back,” the narrator says. “But respect the rumors. It’s true. This is the most shocking season ever. We do de-Clare.”
Finally, the preview wraps with a moment between Crawley and host Chris Harrison. “Congratulations, you’ve just blown up The Bachelorette,” he says. Then Crawley is seen wiping away tears.

What are ‘The Bachelorette’ rumors for the 2020 season?
Of course, The Bachelorette Season 16 promo could simply be following tradition. But given the rumors surrounding the new season, it seems possible the franchise wanted to tease all the buzz that’s taken the community within the past few weeks.
In early August 2020, multiple publications reported Tayshia Adams (The Bachelor Season 23 and Bachelor in Paradise Season 6) will replace Crawley as the next bachelorette lead. Crawley allegedly fell in love with a contestant two weeks into filming. So Adams was brought in to finish the season.
“The producers have told her that the season will still lead with Clare and her short-lived journey, and will show Clare falling in love with one of her suitors,” an unnamed source told E! News. “Clare will then conclude her journey and announce that Tayshia is the lead.”
Meanwhile, Us Weekly revealed cast members who didn’t make it to Crawley’s season were asked to come back for Adams. Then according to People, Adams was “game and ready to go.” That said, The Bachelorette has yet to acknowledge Adams as the new lead. Every preview thus far has featured Crawley as the sole headliner.
When to watch ‘The Bachelorette’ Season 16 premiere
Whatever happens on The Bachelorette, the new season starts soon. In late August and early September, both Adams and Crawley returned to social media, likely indicating filming has wrapped.
Nonetheless, ABC has already announced the release date for The Bachelorette Season 16 premiere, and it’s going to be the end of Bachelor Mondays. So mark your calendars for 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
