Behind the Scenes of ‘Lucifer’ Video Reveals First Day Back on Set Since the Pandemic Hit
The Devil is certainly in the details when it comes to the COVID-19 safety protocols on the set of Lucifer Seasons 5B and 6. Here’s what we know so far.
‘Lucifer’ is back in production with a few changes
Deadline dished that Lucifer is back in production for the first time since March when the series halted production in the wake of the pandemic. Now, the cast and crew are about to finish up season 5B and begin shooting season 6.
Now that they have returned to work, a few new systems are in place to guard against COVID-19. Wearing masks, onsite testing, and utilizing tools to measure social distancing are some of the procedures the Lucifer team implemented to prevent the spread of the disease. These protocols are front and center in a video that Lucifer star Aimee Garcia shared on Twitter.
Aimee Garcia shared a video from the first day back on the set
Garcia treated Twitter followers to a video sneak peek of the Lucifer production set on the first day of filming season 5B. The star retweeted the rare content, which was edited together by a third party.
“OK, yall, it’s day one. How do you feel, Kev?” Aimee Garcia kicked off the behind-the-scenes video with her Lucifer co-star, Kevin Alejandro. “I’m shaking in my mask right now,” quipped Alejandro before confessing, “We’re waiting for COVID test results.”
Garcia replied, “I already got the negative (results). Him, I don’t know.” Seated outdoors, the masked duo squeezed into the video frame of the camera, which was presumably a smartphone in selfie mode. “Look how close she is to me,” Alejandro chuckled.
Next up in the on-set video, Garcia showcased her bright red, 6-foot social distancing stick, courtesy of the production crew. As she walked behind Lucifer’s Rachel Harris on the backlot, she held the rod out in front of her, proving that she was indeed keeping a safe distance.
“I have to be six feet from Rachel,” Garcia measured. Then the actor turned her camera to the right side, giving viewers a glimpse of another co-star, namely D.B. Woodside. “Six feet from D.B….,” again, Garcia pointed her stick toward her cohort.
Alas, the video ended before giving fans a look at the rest of the cast, the crew, or the set. Lucifer fans can only hope that the Ella portrayer will post more updates to her social media feed as production continues.
When ‘Lucifer’ will return to Netflix is still a mystery
Lucifer Season 5A launched on Aug. 21. The eight-episode stretch delivered comedy, action, drama, and romance. It also left the audience hanging with a massive cliffhanger.
Fans will have to wait a bit longer to find out what will happen next with Luci and the gang. The second half of season 5, dubbed 5B, does not yet have a release date. Until Lucifer returns with new episodes, fans can get their fix by streaming previous episodes on Netflix.
