Bella Hadid said she ‘blacked out’ on the Met Gala red carpet
Speaking to Interview Magazine, Hadid opened up about her “gilded glamour” outfit—which was designed by Riccardo Tisci, the chief creative officer of Burberry—and included a corset bodysuit.
Hadid also shared that her red carpet experience was not the most comfortable one.
“I literally like, blacked out,” she said. “I don’t even think I got one good photo on the red carpet. Now that I look back, I realize that people literally stand there for 20 minutes and they give. I looked once to the left, once to the right, and I ran up the stairs.”
She added, “I don’t think I was out there for more than three minutes. I don’t know if that was my anxiety, or maybe the waist was giving cinch and I couldn’t breathe. I mean, there were probably a lot of things happening.”
Bella Hadid clarifies her comment
Hadid’s comment about “blacking out” caught a lot of people’s attention. She recently took to Instagram Story to clarify what she meant by it.
“I didn’t say I blacked out because of my corset. I joked that I blacked out, not because of my corset, but from the regular anxieties and excitement of the carpet,” Hadid wrote (via People). “I meant more like it goes by in a flash. So quickly that ya barely remember it! I should have said that.”
The 25-year-old also reassured fans that her corset fit her nicely and that she did not have a lot of problems wearing it. She said, “Corsets in general are pretty uncomfortable/hard on the lungs but my corset fit perfectly with enough room to eat and drink!!”
Bella Hadid has been open about dealing with anxiety
Hadid is one celebrity who has been open about their experience with anxiety.
For example, in November 2021, Hadid took to Instagram to respond to a video of Willow Smith talking about her anxiety experience. The model shared photos of her in bed with tears and wrote, “This is pretty much my everyday, every night. For a few years now.”
She also added, “Social media is not real. For anyone struggling , please remember that. Sometimes all you’ve gotta hear is that you’re not alone. So from me to you, you’re not alone. I love you, I see you, and I hear you. Self help and mental illness/chemical imbalance is not linear and it is almost like a flowing rollercoaster of obstacles… it has its ups and downs , and side to sides. But I want you to know, there is always light at the end of the tunnel, and the rollercoaster always comes to a complete stop at some point.”
