Former Disney Channel actor Bella Thorne is really stepping into her own. After shedding her child-star persona, the Shake It Up alum has taken control of her own image, starring in series like Famous In Love and movies like Assassination Nation.

After experience a heinous violation in 2019, when hackers stole nude photos of her in an effort to extort her for money, Thorne released the images herself. Now, using the platform OnlyFans, Thorne it totally taking back control of her image and making a film about it in the process.

In fact, though she’s only been on the OnlyFans platform for a week, Thorne has made millions.

Inside the OnlyFans revolution

OnlyFans launched back in 2016 as a website for sex workers to monetize their work from the safety of their homes. The subscription-based social media platform for adult-only content means that content creators have total control of their content, paying a small fee to the site while charging fans a monthly subscription fee subscription.

Typically, this fee ranges anywhere from $4.99 and $49.99 and it grants the viewer access to adult content including videos and photos from their favorite adult entertainers and celebrities.

Though OnlyFans was already pretty popular in the adult entertainment industry, the release of Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé’s “Savage (Remix)” which mentions the site, thrust it into the mainstream. Also amid quarantine and the coronavirus pandemic, celebrities like Cardi B, reality TV stars, and influencers have been launching OnlyFans accounts to keep their bank accounts flush.

Thorne is no stranger to controversy, but her reason for starting hr OnlyFans account was very personal. “OnlyFans is the first platform where I can fully control my image; without censorship, without judgment, and without being bullied online for being me,” she told Paper Magazine.

In addition to having some fun, Thorne is also using her time on the platform for some critical research for a movie. She told explained.

When Thorne launched her account with a subscription rate of $20/monthly, she made an astounding $1 million in the first 24 hours. By the end of the first week, she’d made $2 million and she did all of this without any nudity.

According to the L.A. Times Thorne is donating a portion of her earnings toward charity. She will also invest some money into her production company. Thorne apparently hopes to collaborate with The Florida Project director Sean Baker to make her OnlyFans movie.
