‘Below Deck:’ Do Kate Chastain and Josiah Carter Keep in Touch?
Their friendship was often a topic of discussion and even celebrated on social media. Chief stew Kate Chastain and second stew Josiah Carter from Below Deck had the kind of friendship chemistry many people only dream of achieving.
The two stews worked harmoniously from the beginning. Chastain never found herself having to ask Carter to re-do tasks and Carter anticipated the guests’ every need. Beyond their working relationship, the pair seemed to really like each other. They shared a room and often partied together when the crew was off charter.
Fans were so invested in their friendship they assumed Chastain and Carter kept in touch. But Carter told Showbiz Cheat Sheet in June he hadn’t heard from Chastain despite trying to reach out.
How did Chastain answer the question?
A caller asked Chastain when was the last time she had talked to Carter when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Plus the caller wanted to know if Chastain and Carter planned to work together any time soon.
Chastain said she wasn’t sure if Carter was working on boats as Carter’s boyfriend has a gorgeous home in Spain. “And I haven’t spoken to him since I went out of the country for two months,” she said. “But…I miss him.”
Cohen seemed a little surprised with Chastain’s answer noting their closeness. But Chastain nodded, “For like six weeks when we worked together on a boat, yeah,” she replied. “The problem is we have different time zones and it makes it awkward.” Cohen says that Carter was like Chastain’s work husband.
Carter has no idea though why Chastain has been elusive
Carter spoke with Showbiz Cheat Sheet in June and said he and Chastain lost touch immediately after the reunion. “She doesn’t speak to me anymore,” he said. “I have no idea why. When we filmed the reunion, we were fine.”
He said they were so close, they got tattoos together in Tahiti too. Carter said he reached out a few times but would receive no response back from Chastain. Some messages he sent were either opened and unanswered or simply left unopened altogether.
“Maybe she’s just busy,” he said. “I thought Kate was really cool and fun. But I don’t know. But no one is too busy to reply, ‘I’m good how are you?’”
He also confirms he wasn’t asked back to ‘Below Deck’ too
Even though the stews had a strong working relationship, Carter confirmed he was not asked back to Below Deck. Several social media fans have asked when he would be back, but he insists he won’t be seen in the upcoming season.
But he told Showbiz Cheat Sheet he’d love to work for Captain Sandy Yawn. “I had so much fun doing all the aspects of the show,” Carter said. “It was another country to check off my list with Tahiti. But when I saw the adverts for the Med, it’s interesting because I’ve done the Med loads of times.”
Carter has also met some of the Below Deck Mediterranean cast too. “I’ve met Colin and I’ve met Captain Sandy,” Carter says. “And they’re great and so much fun. I love them. I’d love to work for Captain Sandy.” The Sirocco crew seems into it too as they’ve publicly welcomed Carter on social media.
